"Uh..."
A strange voice sounded, followed by Ewan's scream: "Holy shit, your hand!"
John looked down to see a blood-red eye had opened on the back of his hand.
The eyeball moved, as if adjusting to the new environment.
Then the eyeball fixed its gaze on John, filled with humiliation and resentment.
"I saved your life, you know. What's with that look?" John said.
"Human, come clean, was this a trap you set from the beginning?"
The belatedly aware Blood-Eye Ghost finally sensed that something was amiss.
"A trap, what trap?" John scratched his head in confusion.
The Blood-Eye Ghost wasn't buying John's feigned ignorance, convinced that it had fallen into this human's trap.
Mouth claiming ignorance, yet able to complete all the steps of the contract with proficiency!
Even a three-year-old could see the problem here!
But it was too late for any more words now, the Blood-Eye Ghost had to accept its fate.
The eye on the back of the hand closed again, and the stench of decay from the right hand dissipated.
"Ding, congratulations to the host for completing a passive task, you have received a silver-level treasure chest ×1!"
John didn't rush to open it, tossing it into his tool bar, then turned to Ewan, who was still in shock: "See? That was easy, right?"
Ewan swallowed hard: "My God, did you just consume that ghost?"
"It's on my right hand, for now, under my command. It has to work for me for a year before it can be free," John explained simply.
"You can do that?"
"You could try it."
Ewan pursed his lips: "I'm not about to court death like that."
John had no time for idle chatter with Ewan and walked out of the shelving area.
At the front desk, the male proprietor and female proprietor had appeared at some point.
The male proprietor looked at John with a dark expression: "Making such a racket, are you trying to tear down my shop?"
"To catch that thief, a bit of noise was inevitable."
The female proprietor was taken aback: "You mean, you caught the thief?"
"I did."
"How did you catch them?"
"That's not something you need to worry about. From now on, your goods won't go missing anymore."
After saying this, John added: "If you don't believe me, you can ask your stock clerk. He saw it with his own eyes."
Ewan, hiding behind the shelves, had no choice but to come out, bracing himself: "Female proprietor, he... he really did catch that thief."
The male proprietor ran into the shelving area, took a few deep sniffs, and suddenly exclaimed excitedly: "The annoying smell is really gone, the thief has been caught!"
The female proprietor seemed very surprised and asked: "How did you deal with it?"
"Killed it."
The couple clearly didn't believe John's answer.
John didn't care whether they believed him or not and said: "I've solved your problem, so about that X ingredient, shouldn't you give it to me now?"
The female proprietor didn't speak, turned around, went back, and brought a stack of ghost Coins, stuffing them into John's hand: "The X ingredient has actually been sold out. Consider this a token of our gratitude, take it and go."
John, holding the ghost Coins, looked up and said: "Female proprietor, that's not very honorable of you."
"Enough with the nonsense, take your benefit and scram. You guys from the Fierce Ghost Restaurant duped us last time, consider it a favor that we're not settling scores with you!" Seeing his goal achieved, the male proprietor's true colors showed as he glared at John.
Ewan sighed helplessly: "I told you so, why wouldn't you listen?"
John's expression remained calm: "I only know that this was what we agreed upon beforehand."
"Don't make things too stiff, or you'll be the one who ends up losing out. Forget about the X ingredient, just go back," the female proprietor said indifferently.
"In that case, I'll just send the thief back to you."
John's words took the couple by surprise.
"Didn't you say you killed it?"
John smiled: "I lied to you, just like you lied to me. It's attached to me, we've signed a cursed contract."
"If I can't take the X ingredient back today, you might as well close your supermarket. It'll be a lose-lose situation, and everyone will be happy, right?"
The female proprietor's eyes suddenly turned fierce, and her voice became sharp and piercing: "Are you threatening us? Young man, I took a liking to you, which is why I didn't tear off the facade. Don't paint yourself into a corner!"
The male proprietor, even more irritable, pulled out a cleaver, ready to chop John.
"Devil System: You have gained +50 rage points from the ghost couple!"
"Reward ghost Items——MythiCarn×10!"
"Reward 50 ghost power!"
John looked at the ghost couple expressionlessly, but inside he was a bit panicked and sought help from the Blood-Eye Ghost: "Bro, come out and back me up!"
"You were acting all tough, deal with it yourself," Blood-Eye Ghost sneered.
Because of the cursed contract, it only needed to ensure John's safety. As for other matters, it was quite happy to see John get a taste of defeat.
"Still want a taste of MythiCarn?"
Hearing about MythiCarn, Blood-Eye Ghost suddenly couldn't stay calm.
That stuff was just too delicious!
"Deal!"
"Play along with me in a little act, let's see your acting skills," John said.
On the other side, the male proprietor glanced at the female proprietor: "This vermin is about to crap on our heads, can you stand it?"
The female proprietor, with a stern face, was about to speak when John's right hand suddenly became covered in black spiderwebs, emitting a foul stench of decay.
The eye on the back of his hand reopened, looking at the ghost couple, and said: "That's right, kill this human kid, and I can come out! I haven't had my fill of the stuff in your supermarket, I want to stick around in your store forever!"
