You Have Nothing to Fear (2)

On the night of the party, Penelope stood before the mirror, adjusting her outfit one last time. The navy dress she had tried on with Margaret now hung elegantly on her figure, starkly contrasting the uncertainty and anxiety she felt inside. 

The debut party was expected to be huge, and Penelope was acutely aware that some eyes would be on her that evening. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but it was hard not to be nervous, given how others might react upon her return. 

"You look stunning." 

Penelope snapped out of her thoughts and found her husband leaning against the door frame, looking at her with darkened eyes. She slightly blushed at Raven's compliment and suddenly felt conscious of her appearance. 

"Thank you, Raven," Penelope replied softly, her heart fluttering at how he gazed at her.
