Cyran POV
The words just tumbled out of his mouth seeing Lilia smile at him, and hearing her gentle words before that. She willingly sat at the same table with him and shared ideas about how to defeat the man they both hated.
But that was not why he impulsively asked to talk to her when he should have known better–when he had the “DON’T” command from Jiro on a piece of paper that he’d signed.
Spending last night lying in Naomi’s arms, feeling sick over the way Hades talked about mates as if they meant nothing, led him and his wolf to one single conclusion: he’d been an absolute fool pursuing Lilia, and caused so much pain, all for nothing.
Hades never cared about him finding his fated mate. He just wanted Lilia as part of his grand scheme. Hades didn’t care about true love between mates or how finding your mate made you a better person. Everyone in the cult changed sex partners with no more thought than deciding what to eat. Less, actually.
