Chapter 35: For Want of a Wizard

Hades POV

Cyran wanted in.

Hades could smell it all over him, oozing from every pore. His chosen successor, his prize student, his flesh and blood dripped with hunger and ambition. Cyran always had been power-hungry.

That was perfect for Hades.

He knew Cyran didn’t just want to be Alpha again. No. Cyran wanted a greater power. He wanted a bigger victory, and he wanted his mate. Hades would give both things to him if only Cyran would stop being so stubborn!

And in return, Cyran would give Hades what he’d craved without knowing it. He’d known subconsciously for centuries. At first, his wolf just wanted to keep him alive and wanted him to fight. But soon, his wolf understood all too well and begged for release.

Wolves were so much more in tune with these things.

Hades pressed a hand to his forehead. He was so tired, but he couldn’t rest. Not just yet.

“I want in. What do I need to do?”

Cyran’s confident words made Hades’ knees wobble. “For a start, fetch me my staff.”
