“Follow me,” Nikolai stated and headed toward the staircase.
I stood huffing for a second, but my feet had a mind of their own as I followed Nikolai up the stairs. I was surprised that there was an open balcony in the house that had a view of the New York skyline. The balcony had couches off to the side and a table at the center. I was in awe as I approached and stared out into the night. I felt my body relax as I sat down on the couch and crossed one leg over the other.
Nikolai watched me with piqued interest and then he smiled. “Let me get you a glass of wine.”
“No.” I raised my hand. “I am not in the mood to drink.”
“You think that I am being a b*stard. And you are right. I am selfish and what I want, I always get.”
“You are delusional,” I snickered.
