Early the next day, Irina was still in my apartment cooking breakfast, making herself right at home. I stared at her, my heart beating with happiness but my mind was still wary of the fact that she was in my apartment.
“The bodyguards will cause a stir in the corridors. You need to leave,” I retorted as I stared out the window as the morning sun rays hit the living room.
“I sent them away last night while you slept. I also cleaned up the apartment while you slept,” Irina informed me.
“You should have left with them and spared me the trouble. I can clean my apartment,” I responded.
“I should have but I did not want to. I wanted to make you breakfast and show you I am not just a spoiled lady but I can handle myself.” She raised her chin at me.
“Irina, I am the last person that you need to prove yourself to,” I responded and sat down at the table as she served breakfast.
“I went to see Nikolai the other day,” she informed me.
