Trials of Resilience

At the top of the highest city building, Maya had to keep the wind from flapping at her cape while she savored the mass of sprawling mankind below, flowing busily. In silent-shrouded hours, her thoughts seemed restless, echoing back her mind's inner tumult and all that lay before her.

The aftermath of their latest triumph over the Shadow Syndicate left Maya struggling with a newfound sense of uncertainty. The battles had surely taken their toll on her body and spirit, more than she had realized. Like shadows hissing in at her thoughts, doubt crept up to eat away at her very conviction.

But there was no way Maya's mind would resign itself to such despondency. It could not be at this very time, since she had by then come this far. With a clear resolution, she cast her doubts aside and focused on only one thing: the task lying before her.

She considered the inner thoughts of all the other members on her team; everyone has their own set of inner struggles as she pondered her next move. She knew, indeed, that they were forced to learn and rely on one another for any hope of prevailing against their sinister opponents.

A burning sense of strength grew in her, and Maya raised her eyes to the stars shining with determination above. In them she found within their light some semblance of hope, a beacon that reminded her of how, in despair, there was light showing her the way.

Stepping off the roof with new resolve, ready to face whatever may come, for she will brave whatever difficulty awaits her with invigorating ideals and strong allies.

Stepping out into that night, she was filled with peace because she had known already at the moment how she in life might be kept, the store for it in the future, and go on, face it with courage and resilience empowered as a Maya.
