Laura smirked to herself, repeating Ryder's words in her mind: *Playing doctor.* She could handle his banter, but his attempts at charm were more amusing than intimidating.

Dhimas let out a laugh, enjoying the interaction, while Alaric quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Sorry, didn't mean any disrespect," he said diplomatically. "Their jokes can be a bit... offbeat."

Laura waved it off. "It's fine. I'll come back tomorrow at the same time."

"Tomorrow? Great!" Ryder repeated eagerly, his grin wide. "I'll walk you to the parking lot."

"There's no need."

"I insist."

Laura hesitated, stealing a quick glance at Alaric. Ryder's eager demeanor made her slightly uneasy, but Alaric just nodded reassuringly, giving her an encouraging smile.

"See? I'm completely harmless," Ryder said, patting his pockets and showing empty hands. "No sharp objects, and I promise I don't bite."
