"Mom… is Hinami gonna be okay?" Ikumi questioned, the two standing in front of the hospital room, Hinami had died twice on the operating table, and was barely alive. Oxygen over her face with tubes going from her body to various machines around her, pale blue blankets pulled up to her chest, her arms resting overtop, the blanket with her hair falling back over the white pillow behind her head. Her teammates had yet to come out of surgery, the teams having trouble stabilizing them due to the amount of wounds they were contending with. Light flooding into the room Hinami was in, as well as the hall of the hospital. Ikumi's white-black hair sat spiked around his head, wearing a purple shirt with tan shorts, wearing brown zori on his feet, looking into the room. Hadami hummed, her violet hair behind her head as she wore a pink kimono style dress with a purple belt around her waist, looking in at her daughter. Who looked on the brink of death.
"She's a fighter, Ikumi. They all are." She said definitely,
"Hadami, where is she?" Nawaki said walking into the hospital rapidly, he'd been speaking with the elder council when word came down of Hinami's entire team having been attacked. Making his way straight to the hospital.
"Daddy!" Ikumi said and Nawaki lifted the 6 yr old into his arms, wearing a green longsleeve shirt with black pants, placing a hand on Hadami's shoulder, looking into his daughters room in worry.
"She'll pull through." He said, assured, his brown hair in a ponytail behind his head,
"Resusitation efforts are failing, what are we going to do ma'am? We've been at this for an hour." a medical nin asked Shizune who tilted her head towards the ground, they stood in the operating room with Geikan Uchiha, the boy having been sliced straight through his chest, abdomen, legs, and shoulders multiple times in multiple places, his aortic valve nicked, which was the reason they continued to loose him, never mind the punctured lungs and internal organs outside of the heart. All of them wore medical scrubs with hairnets over their heads gloves on their hands to avoid contaiminating the work area. Geikan's black hair sat fluffing to one side of his round face, his eyes closed as if he wore sleeping,
"Geikan Uchiha, time of death 4:53pm May 7th,1910." she said downcast as he looked towards the child whom had lost too much blood and they just couldn't save him. A medic ninja recorded what Shizune had said, calling off the surgery. Shizune heading out of the operating room, taking her gloves and shield from her hair as she did so, heading to inform Geikans parents of the outcome of his surgery which was already grim. The boy didn't look good when Lee had set him on the gurney but this just made it a million times worse. Shizune had the medical nin close up the body while she spoke to his family. So they could view the body if they so desired.
"Maia, Keiko…. I did everything possible to save your son. But…" Shizune began, the two looking towards her, Maia had her black hair in feathered waves around her head, wearing a cream colored dress with a purple apron on top. Wearing red zori on her feet. Her eyes filling with tears as she looked in shock towards Shizune.
"No… No…. Not my boy! Geikan… my sweet boy." Maia said clinging to Keiko who's vision was becoming increasingly blurred as he looked towards Shizune,
"I see… he didn't make it then?" he confirmed and Shizune nodded in confirmation,
"Unfortunately, he took too much damage internally for my team and I to heal, and he had to be resuscitated four times, but the last time… his heart just couldn't take the stress. I'm so sorry." Shizune said sitting next to them and Keiko nodded, holding his crying wife, his hair curled over his forehead, wearing a purple shirt with tan shorts, black zori on his feet
"Thank you for trying to heal our boy. What about his teammates?" Keiko asked and Shizune looked over,
"I can't say. I am so… So sorry about Geikan. I'll leave you two be." Shizune said and the two nodded, Shizune leaving them in a private room, closing the door behind her. Maia clinging to Keiko as the two of them cried, grieving the loss of their child.
"She lost too much blood…" Rin said as their attempts to resuscitate Anita also failed, the girl missing her left arm, the wound having been bandaged by shaking hands, and medical ninjutsu that was still juvenialle, Hinami's work no doubt. Explaining why the girl's hands and most of her body was covered in blood, as the medic on the team, she would've been focusing on trying to heal everyone. If it was just Anita's arm, it would be no problem for Tsunade. But the girl had been stabbed in her chest and abdomen multiple times almost all of her organs pierced her aortic valve nicked, causing more of the blood loss internally. Anita's blood soaked the operating table, the girl's eyes closed as if she were sleeping. If not for the missing rise and fall of her chest, paired with the beating heart, Rin may have been fooled. She tried once more, but it was clear to everyone in the room… Anita wasn't making it out of this. Her jumpsuit was completely torn from the perforations, her jacket held a slice as her hair held dried blood which the medics cleaned from her hair.
"What now, miss Rin?" A medic asked and Rin looked over, before sighing, a tear slipping past her eyes looking towards the child on the table, she was by far the worst of the group aside from Airu Sarutobi who was dead on arrival. Anita was never going to make it and it was time… Rin looked at the girl before sighing, a tear slipping past
"Close up the body and take a note. Anita Namikaze, time of death 5:00pm. May 7th, 1910." Rin said and the medics nodded, going to do that before moving a sheet over Anita's face. Rin removed the cap from her head, taking the gloves from her hands paired with the scrubs before going to speak with Anita's family.
"Lola… Masaru…" Rin started, looking towards the two, standing across from them, the two looking in return before tears filled Lola's eyes.
"How is our daughter. Rin? Please don't beat around the bush." Masaru asked looking towards the woman
"Her wounds were just too much for her." She said Lola looked over, her brown hair in a pixie cut over her head, her orange eyes looking towards Rin. wearing a maroon halter top with black pants, wearing black zori on her feet.
"My little girl…" Masaru said in shock, his brown eyes looking towards Lola, his blonde hair sitting flat around his head, wearing a brown shirt with black pants, wearing blue zori on his feet, a headband around his forehead, tears running from his eyes.
"Thank you for trying to save our daughter." Lola said and Rin nodded, agreeing to give the family some space. Going to report to Minato the status of Anita.
Hinami was in a coma, she hadn't woken up for seven days. Many of her family visited her daily, holding her hand a visiting, including team Gai. Tsunade was visiting her, holding her hand.
"You won't believe what your father and Jiraiya did yesterday." Tsunade continued as she told the girl about things she was missing as she was in her coma, Tsunade's ash blonde hair in two ponytails, wearing a sleeveless kimono top with black capris pants. Her brown eyes looking towards Hinami, before looking at their clasped hands, her hands were small in Tsuande's something that was more apparent as she lay sickly in the bed. She sighed,
"Please, wake up soon Hinami." she said before gasping as her hand was squeezed, it wasn't hard by any means, but, it was followed by her eyelids fluttering. Hinami squeezed her hand again. Shaking her head a moment,
"Hinami? can you hear me?" Tsunade questioned, the girl opening her eyes blinking slowly looking around the room,
"Auntie? Whats going on?" Hinami said, she had an oxygen tube around her nose, looped over her ears.
"Hinami." Tsunade said in response, before hugging the girl tightly, still mindful of her injuries the girl confused as she hugged her in return, patting her back in confusion,
"Sorry, I'll catch you up to speed in a moment, you need a check-up first. You've been asleep for a week." Tsunade explained,
"Lord hokage! It's Hinami Senju!" A jonin said running into Minato's office as he stood in another meeting with Hiashi and Nawaki, the three unable to discern what exactly was meant by the Pure Byakugan statement. The two turned towards the jonin,
"What about her?" Nawaki asked urgently, and the jonin took a breath, likely having ran from the hospital all the way to the hokage's mansion, which was on the otherside of the village,
"She's just woken up. She's speaking with Lady Tsunade now." the jonin said and the men looked shocked before looking towards each other a moment,
"Right, Lord Hiashi, Lord Nawaki, we'll pick this back up. Hinami may have more information that will help with this." Minato said and the two nodded, the meeting adjourning rather quickly as they made their way to the hospital.
"Hey, this is… alot of people?" Hinami questioned as Minato, Hiashi, Tsunade, Rin, Shizune, Gai, Nawaki, and Jiraiya stepped into the room, Jiraiya being the head of the investigation into the Akatsuki group, as well as the masked man. As was Orochimaru, but he was out of the village following a lead. This was a week after she'd woken up, the girl walking around short distances, and was able to have all of the medical devices and was overall in high spirits regardless. Perhaps unaware of what happened.
"Yeah… sorry to throw this on you suddenly, Hinami. After you've just woken up." Minato said, standing in his hokage's attire, looking towards her, and Hinami looked up from her book, raising an eyebrow, she still wasn't well enough to return home and was still healing in the hospital, but she was going to be released home within the next week, and was in a place where she could be questioned and give her report on what happened to her entire team, why she was the only one that survived.
"Uh, yeah… what exactly are you throwing on me?" Hinami said in return, her black hair fell behind her head her bangs over her forehead as she wore a light blue hospital shirt, looking around the room with her pink eyes,
"Do you remember what happened on the mission?" Minato said and Hinami looked in confusion a moment,
"Mission? What…" She started before her eyes widened leaning forwards on the blankets,
"Where's my team? Geikan and Anita, Airu sensei? Where are they? I mean, we're probably out of missions for a few months or so, so Geikan's gonna complain, but Anita's gonna have a really hard recovery, not to mention Airu sensei, they were hurt pretty bad, but they're okay… Right? That wouldn't be enough to actually take them out." Hinami said, looking towards the man,
"We tried… so hard. But… they didn't make it." Shizune said and Hinami's eyes widened, her byakugan activating on instinct a moment as the reality of what she'd said registered in Hinami's mind,
"W…Well what about Airu sensei, I mean, I can't be the only one left from the attack right, there's, I mean that's crazy. Airu sensei is she's stronger than all of us." Hinami said though everyone shook their heads, chakra exploded from her body as tears fell down from her face hitting the bedspread, the wall facing the outside crumbled, vines and roots traveling into the room, coating the floor. Her chakra hitting them full force, feelings of what could only be described as raw unfiltered grief hit the adults like a freight train. Sending them back a few steps, cracks traveling from the ground up the other walls of the room, the adults in the room looked at the damage before looking back at Hinami.
"Hinami! You need to control your chakra." Nawaki said to the girl but Hinami couldn't hear him as her body leaned forwards more completely leaning completely over her knees, blue chakra swirling around her body, a tree growing in the opening, her tears falling like rivers from her eyes, hitting the bedspread. Hiashi walked forwards with his byakugan active, cutting through the chakra around her body, using his gentle fist, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You must control your chakra." Hiashi stated and Hinami looked towards him, in shock a moment, before she reeled in her chakra, they took a 20 minute pause.
"I'm sorry." Minato said and Hinami shook her head, before looking towards the man,
"Can you ask mr. Inoichi to look at my memories to recount what happened between both assailants. I don't think I can recall it verbatim." Hinami questioned and Gai looked over, confused,
"Both assailants? But there was only one when my team arrived on scene." Gai said pointing to himself, questioning if Hinami could be mistaking the number and Hinami shook her head,
"There was the masked man. And a woman, they seemed like friends. Taia, he called her." Hinami said in response,
"I can speak to Inoichi about doing that, but are you certain that's what you want to do?" Minato question
"Yeah. Right now I can't recall exact details with my conscious mind, so there's probably a mental block in place. To bypass that mr. Inoichi's ability would be most helpful just in terms of recalling who this person was with the masked man, and more importantly, what her ability is. It may cut down on investigation. I failed my entire team, Lord hokage. Father. I know the jutsu he uses is invasive and I don't care, if it can give any information, it's worth it." Hinami said in response, and Minato nodded in return, the meeting concluding with Tsunade overlooking the damage to the wall.
"Sorry, about the wall, aunt Tsunade." Hinami said looking away from the woman who placed a hand on her head,
"It's seen worse. Actually, I took out an entire floor once, it was empty except for Jiraiya…" She said in response, looking over shrugging a moment.
"Are you certain about this, Hinami? What your asking… it isn't going to be easy on you." Inoichi asked the next month, Hinami wore her black hair down behind her head, wearing a black short sleeve dress with a jewel neckline, looking towards the man as they stood in the intelligence headquarters, the girl nodded in response, looking towards the man with a dull expression as opposed to the vibrant look she'd had just mere days before the incident.
"Let's get this over with…" She said in return and Inoichi nodded in response, his platinum blonde hair in a ponytail behind his head, wearing a black ninja outfit with a jonin flak jacket overtop, his headband around his forehead. The walls of the room were silver, as was the floor, the device she was placed in kept everything but her head contained within, making her look more like a silver egg, Inoichi placing a hand on her forehead, going into her skull with his jutsu, placing a hand on her brain.
"This is a… weird game, Airu sensei, are you sure it's not just some uhh… betting thing like aunt Tsunade?" Hinata's voice filtered through from the memory, sitting next to Airu, who swiftly hit the top of her head,
"Come on, use your brain here, figure it out… I can't tell you how to solve it." Airu replied, their were a bunch of different shaped blocks in front of Hinami on a small table, 'This is way easy… Did Airu sensei grab one of Ikumi's baby toys or something?' Hinami's thoughts came down,
"But it will probably take you…" Airu continued
"Done." Hinami said in response, looking over towards Airu. Who looked shocked at the girl who looked back in bored confusion. Inoichi sighed, before pushing that memory back, going for the next one,
"There is absolutely no chance that your firestyle will survive underwater, it's called firestyle." Hinami said to Geikan, standing on the training grounds with Anita and the boy, who was trying to convince them of trying a new training.
"Yeah, but how do we know that?" Geikan said in return,
"Uh… because it's FIRE. seriously Geikan. You should listen to Hinami. It's not going to work." Anita said shaking her head
"Ah come on, we should test it." Geikan said in response, 'I think he might be dumber than Naruto… and that's saying something, since Naruto is… really dumb. Not with battles but with books, his taijutsu isn't great either, but actually… no. Naruto would definitely try this too. Hinami thought looking forwards, Geikan jumped into the water, before coming back up simultaneously singed and soaked, the group laughing at his soaked form. Inoichi pushed the memory away, looking for the one from the mission the previous month, coming up on a few different memories from the month,
"Ah… here…" he thought, looking at the memory in front of him, though, unlike the previous ones, this one had a chain around it, locked. Placing his hand on the lock, he pushed past the mental block. By pushing his chakra through it and forcing it to open,
"Airu-Sensei! Just who are these guys?" Hinami said looking towards the woman who just had her arms and legs cut, the wounds were deep, the girl immediately put her hands on her sensei's arm as she held it out,
"Don't know, but this isn't going to be an easy fight, you three need to be ready." Airu said looking forwards, glaring, there, standing across from them, one standing on the tree near the entrance, the other standing on the rocky ground that was outside the forest. 'One of them… her speed is incredible. I think she might be faster than uncle minato. I didn't even see her move… That other one though, that attack that Geikan landed was definietly fatal. He should be… He shouldn't be alive. But he is. How the.. how … just how the fuck?' Hinamis thought's once more crashed into Inoichi, as he looked at the memory, though outside of the two people Hinami'd mentioned, he noticed a third person hanging back watching from one of the trees.
"Listen up. You three should…" Airu started before the woman, sliced her across the abdomen, jumping back to the tree, grinning like a maniac as the kids yelled for their sensei, Hinami looking towards the two people in shock as her hands began to shake, putting her hands over to try and heal Airu's wounds. 'This is deep. I didn't… I didn't even… she was… she was so fast… I didn't even see… She's a sociopath… and she's being backed by the masked man… but it doesn't look like they're working together.' Hinami thought looking towards her sensei, the blood coating her hands
"You idiot. I didn't want that one." the masked man scolded the woman who pouted a moment, before making to take out Hinami, Anita looking over quickly, before forcing her scared body to move, to protect their youngest member and team medic.
"Hinami!" She yelled moving in front of the attack, which took her left arm, slicing just outside of Hinami's eye, which went from the the side of the girls forehead to her chin, leaving the scar that she still had and would likely have for the rest of her life. Anita screamed from the pain, as Hinami turned her attention to the girl,
"Anita!" Hinami yelled in shock, the blood hitting the girls face and spilling over her hands as she ripped her own sleeve of her kimono style top, wrapping it around the arm above where it'd been sliced off, wrapping it a few times, moving her hand to create a small wooden stick she tied that into the fabric, ensuring it was tight. Cutting off circulation before placing her hands on the wound, the blood dripping over her hands as she used her medical ninjutsu to try and heal the girl, 'she's loosing a lot of blood…' Hinami thought her arms began to shake as she took in the situation. 'G-Gai sensei's team should be nearby… right…' she thought,
"Help Geikan, I'll be fine." Anita said and Hinami nodded hesitantly. Standing shaking with Geikan, who looked towards the girl and took in her shaking form, the two using their combined jutsu, but it didn't seem to have an affect on the enemy despite scorching the very earth, the two enemy remained unscathed. before the masked man dismissed Taia, the woman disappearing.
"whatever Zozo." she said before leaving. the memory continued until the arrivance of Gai and Neji, where it cut out as Hinami lost consciousness. Inoichi hummed exiting her mind, looking towards Hinami who was still in the contraption in front of him. Releasing the girl who stepped out of the contraption, looking towards the man. Her eyes held something they hadn't before, complete and utter darkness, almost like she was drowning in it. Though, after what'd happened to her team… Who could blame her?
"Did you get anything useful?" Hinami said as she was released from the contraption, Inoichi nodded,
"Yes, exceedingly so. Thank you, Hinami." he said in response, the girl nodded in response before leaving the room as she was dismissed.
"What happened?" Minato asked and Inoichi hummed, looking over towards the man,
"There were two people she took note of, but there was a third one that was hiding in the trees of her memory, but didn't make a move. Before the girl left, which was just before Gai and his team showed, she called the masked man Zozo. not Madara." Inoichi said in return and Minato hummed in response, looking towards the man.
"Oh, and Airu had given Hinami an IQ test, she scored off the charts, in the near 300 range. I was able to see that during my search." Inoichi said and Minato hummed in response to the information.
"Uncle Hiashi, I was wondering. Can you put a seal on my byakugan. So that it cannot be taken. Not like the bird caged seal." Hinami said looking towards the man who looked towards her, she'd asked to meet with him this wasn't what he thought it was. Sitting at the head of the meeting room on his knees on a cushion, Hinami kneeled before him also on a cushion. He looked towards her a moment her black hair fell behind her head, wearing an offshoulder longsleeve black dress with an illusion collar, she'd just lost her entire team and was barely holding herself together, that much was obvious. Hinami had thrown herself into training more harshly, having joined the Anbu for a short stint.
"I see. This is in relation to that mission." Hiashi said, his black hair fell behind his head, wearing an off-white kimono with a blue obi tied around the waist, wearing a green haori overtop, looking towards Hinami who nodded in response.
"Can it be done? If it has to be the caged bird seal then so be it. If that masked man comes back for my byakugan, I don't want him to be able to take it. Please sir." Hinami said bowing in respect, and Hiashi hummed,
"Your request isn't out of the ordinary… however, I'll have to look further into a specific seal for that purpose." Hiashi said and Hinami nodded in return, thanking the man for his time. He returned to her thirty minutes later, agreeing to help seal her byakugan so she could still use it, though, taking it from her would be an impossibility. Hinami nodded once it was done, thanking the man, before leaving the hyuga compound. From there she looked into as much as she could into the masked man, everything she could retain, and get her hands on, she would. Reading the mission report from herself and Gai. she was digging as far into these two as she could. Coming up with a plan of attack, something that would work against them.
