Training, Part 7

"What…did you do?" I ask as I slide my hoodie back on and pull up my hood to shield me from the newfound rain.

"I electrified the atmosphere to start up a storm. That way, with these winds, it'll be easier for you to get "in tuned" with wind," Nick answers. "And take off your sweatshirt, you shouldn't be bothered by the wind." I groan as I slide my dampened hoodie off and toss it to the ground, leaving me in my tank-top again.

"So how do I "become one" with the wind?" I ask.

"Well that's hard to do, so we'll focus on Cursed Power Emission first," Nick answers.

"Well how did you learn to turn your Cursed Power into lighting?" I ask.

"I repeatedly tased myself until I electrified my body and learned how to mimic it with my Cursed Power, why?" Nick explains, like it's the most normal thing in the world, causing me to wince.

"I'm just glad I don't have to do that…" I mutter to myself under my breath. Nick raises an eyebrow at me.

"So for Cursed Power Emission, focus on conjuring up your Cursed Power where you want to emit it from, like with Cursed Power Barrier," Nick explains.

"I'll emit my Cursed Power from my hands," I say as I focus on pouring Cursed Power into both of my hands.

"Now, release your Cursed Power like with Cursed Power Burst, it doesn't matter what form your Cursed Power takes, that'll come later," Nick replies.

"What form?" I ask.

"You saw when I used Cursed Power Emission, my Cursed Power took the form of a bolt of lightning, like a beam," Nick explains. "When Ella uses Emission, her Cursed Power takes the form of a ring, her Waves, and when Austin uses Emission, his Cursed Power takes the form of gun bullets."

"I see, so Ella and Ausitn have already mastered Cursed Power Emission," I mutter to myself.

"And Grover's already been able to use Barrier for a while now, Jamie too," Nick adds.

So I'm the one who's behind.

I then chamber my Cursed Power infused hands to my sides, before thrusting my hands outwards, spreading them apart while keeping my palms tucked together. As I do so, I release my Cursed Power from my body, like using Cursed Power Burst, but only with my hands. What I expect to happen is that I fire off a powerful beam of Cursed Power from my palms like a certain classic anime hero, but all that I manage to do is shoot off a small orb of Cursed Power, which dissipates after a few feet.

"Umm…was that Cursed Power Emission?" I awkwardly ask as I lower my hands.

"Well…a weak, pathetic version of it, yes," Nick answers, causing me to groan.

"Why is this so much harder than Burst?" I ask. "Isn't Emission essentially the same thing?"

"Yes, while Emission is essentially the same thing as Burst, in the sense that when using both, you're releasing Cursed Power from your body," Nick explains. "But Burst is easier, because you're simply expelling Cursed Power from your body with no rhyme or rhythm, while with Emission, you're trying to shape your Cursed Power. Try using Emission again, just don't focus on trying to fire off your Cursed Power in the form of a beam, or whatever."

"Alright…" I softly say to myself as I close my eyes again. I chamber my hands and pour my Cursed Power into them again. "Just like using Cursed Power Burst, but only with my hands."

"Yes, but you need to project your Cursed Power too, not just release it," Nick interrupts.

I open my eyes then thrust my hands forwards again, just as before. I don't force my Cursed Power to take shape, I just release it, sending a wave of Cursed Power expelling from my hands. The second that I do, I let the Cursed Power in my hands fizzle out, sectioning my body off from my wave of Cursed Power, which causes the rush of Cursed Power to fly a couple of feet outwards before dissipating.

"I did it!" I cheer.

"Good, that wave of Cursed Power you emitted would be a powerful gust of wind if you can manage turning your Cursed Power into wind," Nick explains. "Now, let's focus on creating stronger emissions of Cursed Power that fly out further."

"How do I do that?" I ask.

"Simple. If you focus more Cursed Power into your hands, then release it, your Cursed Power emission will naturally be more potent, meaning that it'll be stronger and fly farther before dissipating," Nick explains. "Also, if you store your Cursed Power in your hands longer before releasing it, you can fire off a "charged shot," which will be even stronger."

"Oh, like when you hold down the attack button in a video game!" I exclaim.

"Err…yeah," Nick awkwardly replies.

"Alright, let's try that," I say as I begin channeling Cursed Power into my hands again, much more than I did last time. So when I thrust my hands outwards, just as Nick says, my Cursed Power emission is far more potent and flies farther, stronger, and faster than before. SO much in fact that I accidentally shoot it into the rocky wall beside Nick, which explodes, forcing Nick to have to duck out of the way of the crumbling rocks. "Oh, sorry!" I laugh.

"Either way, very good," Nick replies as he dusts his suit off.

I then chamber my hands, pouring Cursed Power into them again. This time, I let the Cursed Power in my hands linger before thrusting them forwards and releasing an extra-juicy burst of Cursed Power, pinching it off from the rest of my body so as to increase its fire power. "Charge shot!" I shout as my blast of Cursed Power explodes into the rocky wall beside Nick again, and this time, my blast is so powerful and sends so many chunks of stone flying everywhere that Nick has to roll to the side to dodge.

"Stop that!" He snaps, causing me to laugh again.

"You kept attacking me during my training!" I chuckle.

"That was different," Nick replies as he stands up and dusts his suit off. "You're pretty solid at Cursed Power Emission already, let's just practice a little more before practicing changing the shape of your emissions."

And so, I practice firing off Cursed Power Emissions of varying strength, testing out my emissions on the rocky terrain, as well as proactive my charged shots. So far, I'm only able to emit non rhythmic, jagged blasts of Cursed Power, with no shaping to them at all.

***

"Alright!" Nick says as he claps his hands together, once I've practiced Cursed Power Emission for a while. "Now let's practice shaping your Cursed Power emissions."

"Does that mean I get to use a Spirit Gun?!" I excitedly exclaim. Anime powers, the only one to get me interested in this Cursed Power training crap. "Or a JaJanken, or a Rasenshuriken, or Haki, or-" I begin nerd-rambling, but Nick cuts me off.

"I don't know what any of those things are, but yes," he answers, and I can't help but to get just a little bit excited.

"So how do I change the shape of my Cursed Power?" I ask.

"It shouldn't be much different than your Wind Control," Nick answers. "Except rather than swirling your Cursed Power around to mimic wind, condense your Cursed Power into the shape of a sphere, beam, or crescent wave, or whatever you want to fire off."

"So like a Kamehameha, or a Getsuga Tenshou, or a Hamon Overdrive?!" I excitedly exclaim.

"Again, you're nerding out on me, but I'm assuming the answer is yes," Nick answers.

I channel my Cursed Power into my hands again, before thrusting them outwards. This time, rather than release my Cursed Power, I spiral my Cursed Power around like I'm using my Wind Control, in the form of a ball, firing off an orb of Cursed Power, which flies outwards, not as strong or fast or as far as my Cursed Power waves.

"So, uh…what anime was that attack from?" Nick asks, trying to relate.

"That was supposed to be a JaJaken, but it wasn't that good," I sigh.

"It's going to be much harder to fire off powerful blasts of Cursed Power while maintaining its form, that'll come with training," Nick explains.

"I get how to fire off spheres of Cursed Power, since it's just like firing off untamed Cursed Power, but using my skills from my Wind Control in order to manipulate my Cursed Power into the form of a ball. But how do I fire beams of Cursed Power?" I ask. "Like you did with your lightning bolt?"

"Do as you would normally do when firing off a wave of sphere of Cursed Power, just don't pinch off your Cursed Power from your hands. That way, your Cursed Power will remain attached to your hands while still firing off a blast, and it will look like a death ray, or something," Nick answers.
