Blue Demon, Part 3

"Well then…why did the War of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse show up to prevent us from interfering with your right?" Nick asks.

My eyes widened. "What?!" I ask.

"Mh-hm," Jamie replies. "While you were fighting with your stalker, we were tangling with War."

"How did you fare against War?" I ask.

"We got destroyed...she wasn't using nearly all of her power…" Jamie sighs.

"Hmm, not surprising. It's a good thing I showed up and scared her off," Nick adds.

"Oh please, we only survived because War said that she wanted to go home!" Austin snaps.

"Haha...it's true. Truth is, I would have died if War didn't retreat!" Nick laughs, with a smile that looks all too innocent for his words. I look Nick up and down, seeing that he's badly injured, almost as much as against King. If War was able to do this to Nick...then how strong are the Four Horsemen?!

"War said that she was here to keep us occupied the whole you fought," Austin adds.

"Um…" I begin to sweat. Mikey's glare narrows even further. "I'm not sure. I'm assuming there's more to the stalker than we thought," I answer.

"Wait, so how is War on Earth, anyway?! Isn't she supposed to be sealed in Hell?!" Grover cries.

"I didn't even know that War was real," Jamie sighs.

"Nick, do you know anything?" Austin asks as he turns to face Nick. "You're a pretty high ranking member of the Organization?"

Nick puts a hand to his chin, thinking for a few moments. "No…" Nick answers as he slowly shakes his head. "The only thing I can think of is through the weakening sela between our world and Hell, the Four Horsemen were able to hop through and make it to Earth."

"I sure hope they aren't all on Earth…" Jamie whimpers.

"No matter if all of the Four Horsemen are here, or if they aren't, the War between mankind and humankind steadily approaches," Nick replies. "I'll report this to the Chairman."

Wait till I tell them that I was fighting the son of Death, who wanted to kill his father! Though I think today at least I'll keep everything that happened a secret. The secret of my stalker, the secret of my body, the secret of Cursed Power, the secret of the Four Horsemen, all of it, a secret for now.

And so, the six of us head home under the setting sun

And the divide between Mikey and I grows even wider than before.

***

I couldn't sleep that night…Unsurprising. I tossed and turned for hours, until I finally decided to get out of bed. I grab my katana and take off my shirt. I'm so uncomfortable in my own body, my own skin. My own clothes.

I take a deep breath in…then out.

I slash my arm with my katana, a shallow slash, which causes blood to drip out.

Blue blood.

The blood of a demon, not of a human.

Tears began to well up in my eyes and I ran into the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, I can see the white streak going through my hair, as clear as day.

I punch the mirror, blue blood and glass spraying everywhere. Glass gets stuck in my hands, causing even more blue blood to leak out, but I don't care.

Long after the mirror is destroyed, I keep punching.

I don't know what to do.

A few moments later, after I stand huffing and puffing, my bleeding hands gripped tightly on my sink counter as I stare at the ruins of the shattered mirror, I hear a knock at my door, and someone walks into my room.

I turn around, and I see Mikey.

His light brown eyes glow red in the moonlight, just as my eyes glow blue.

"I know," he says to me. "I know what you are."

I don't say anything.

"Not a human. A monster."

"Are you going to kill me?" I ask.

"No. I won't not for now at least, I'll make you a promise."

"Oh? Feeling a little pity for the monster today?"

"I won't tell anyone your secret, and I won't kill you. But if you lay so much as a FINGER on any innocent person, then I won't hesitate to strike you down where you stand, demon."

"Ironic coming from you," I sneer

"Do we have a deal, demon?" Mikey asks.

I stand in silence for a bit. "Deal," I finally answer.

Mikey and I shake hands, and Mikey walks out of my room.

"You sensed it too, didn't you?" Nick asks Mikey. "Something evil has been awakened in Luis, something demonic. That potential I've sensed in him, I know now that it's something evil. You've sensed it too, Luis is a half demon."

Mikey snorts. "Sensed it? I saw it with my own two eyes, Luis's hideous, demonic form."

"So what are you going to do about it?" Nick asks.

"I won't kill Luis, not now. But I told him that if he kills anyone that isn't warranted a death sentence, then I will strike him down where he stands," Mikey answers.

"Are you going to tell the others?" Nick asks.

"No. They don't need to know," Mikey answers. "What are you going to do?"

"Nothing. I had a half-demon friend in the past. When the Slayer Organization learned what he was, things ended poorly for him. I don't want Luis to reach the same fate," Nick answers.

"So nothing changes for now…" Mikey sighs.

***

Pretty soon, my suspension ends. Nick explained my situation to the Chairman so I don't get any extra time for using my Cursed Power without my license. Mikey still has another two weeks to go. Speaking of which, I got my license back and I'm a full Pro Slayer yet again, ready to tackle some missions. Slayer Fūjin has returned.

Weirdly enough, after that day, my life just...went back to normal. Except for one major difference; Mikey is avoiding me like the plague. And everytime we locked eyes …he glared at me with malicious intent. After that day, it's safe to say that Mikey...no longer considered me his friend. Though Daniel...did? Ironically, that day did strengthen Mikey's and mine's rivalry. Now, not only do I have to get strong to protect the people I care about, I need to get strong enough to control my demon form so that I don't go on a rampage so Mikey doesn't kill me.

But more importantly, so that I don't hurt or kill anybody.

***

"So how about that?" War asks as she strolls over to Death, who's staring out of the New York City penthouse apartment window at the bustling city streets below, with his hands folding behind his back. "I certainly didn't expect the Blue Demon to turn your kid against us."

"That's fine," Death replies as he turns around to face War with a small smirk. "We don't need Daniel anymore. While he failed at the first objective of becoming the Demon King after me, he succeeded in my second purpose of his birth; awakening the Blue Demon."

"What happens now?" War asks with her own smirk.

"I'd like for you to pay a close eye to the Blue Demon and Flames of Destruction wielder, to make sure that their developments are going smoothly," Death answers. "As well as the demon cultists, we should be able to use them to fit our goals."

"But what will you do?" War asks.

"I'm going to go meet up with Famine," Death answers. "She should have some …promising research for us by now."

"The preparations are already in place."

***

I don't know what to do about my demon half.

I could ask my mom about it…but I don't know. It probably has something to do with my father, and maybe even why he left…which means my mom probably won't tell me anything, anyway.

But what would I accomplish if I tell my mom anyway?

Learn that I'm some monster, that Gabby's some monster, and that either one of my parents is a monster. And then what?

I scare Gabby, my mom?

Besides, the more people who know about it, the worse off I'll be.

I can't imagine that the Slayer Organization would want a demon in their ranks. They'd never trust me.

Do I learn to control my demon powers? To slay demons as a demon?

No…

I don't want to touch that cursed power ever again.

I'll become so strong at using my wind and my katana that I'll never need to rely on my demon powers.

I went berserk while using it, anyway, so shouldn't my best bet be to not even tough it?

Right…

I'd rather just ignore my demon half, and pretend I never even realized I had this blonde in me, anyway.

Ignore my demon half, and just live…just live as a human.

If my friends learned that I'm a half demon, would they ever trust me? Ever again?

Would they still be my friends?

Would Nick still train me?
