The teacher, a man at least five feet ten tall, looked like he was caught in a headlight at first. He blinked at me a few times before spluttering. When I glanced around the class, I expected to see the students agreeing with me or something related to that at least, but instead, most of them were shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. When my gaze met with Taylor's who was sitting at the far end of the class, he gave a quick shake of his head.

We had arrived at school together this morning and had even seated beside each other, but because the teacher had asked everyone to pick different seats before the start of this test, we had to be seated far from each other.

When my gaze landed on Malachi, he looked like the perfect embroidment of unbothered. An amused look playing across his face, one which I wished I could claw off right now.

The teacher's voice pulled me back to his presence. He was saying something while staring at my test paper.

"You're the new student, right?" He finally asked and my mouth went in a thin line because I was wondering why he was suddenly asking this when it had nothing to do with what I had just pointed out sometime ago.

It didn't look like he was even waiting for my response. He took a closer look at my paper before speaking. "I see why you're mad now. You sounded dense and I wondered why before, but I guess it makes sense now seeing as your paper is completely empty."

As he spoke, the entire class erupted in laughter. It didn't take long for color to fill up my cheeks. The teacher collected the papers from the rest of the students before returning to the front of the class again.

Once he was behind the podium once again, he gathered the papers together and kept it inside a file. As he worked, his gaze kept darting towards me.

Once he was done, he finally spoke again. "Mr. McCarthy, I'd advise you to take any problem or concern you have with the school management instead of disrupting my class next time."

My mouth fell open in shock and bewilderment. I expected him to say something else but he announced the end of the class and was leaving through the door before I could blink.

Once he was gone, I kept blinking at the door, like I was expecting him to return back here and give me a reasonable explanation as to why certain students could freely cheat in the class without him bating an eye.

When I glanced around, I noticed everyone sliding out from their seats and grabbing their bags in twos and threes. After a few more seconds, I awkwardly sank back into my seat.

The students had not found me standing up and demanding an explanation from the teacher–impressive or cool, instead, they thought that was a stupid thing to do and didn't bother to hide it.

"Man, the new student is begging for trouble at this point."

"I know, right? He definitely has a death wish. Perhaps, he craves another swim in the pool." Two friends said to themselves while laughing as they walked past my seat without sparing a glance my way, while I tried to burrow into my seat even more like that was gonna magically make me disappear from the classroom right now.

When Taylor got to my seat, he had a sympathetic look on his face as he waited for me to get my things. Once I was done, I kept my head lowered as we walked out of the class together.

Josh joined us almost immediately and when Taylor relayed what happened in class to him, he let out a laugh as he spoke.

"Damn. You've got more guts than I expected, kid. No one has ever been that bold before." He said to me and I felt a little pride swell inside of me at those words.

"Might be a bold thing to do but nonetheless stupid. He's only gonna keep attracting unwanted attention and unknowingly making more enemies this way." Taylor mumbled and I stopped talking almost immediately.

"What do you mean by that? Everyone might think I had spoken out of line but I know I didn't say anything wrong. In fact, like the teacher said, I'm gonna complain about that to the school management and make reports of my bullying experiences while at It.

Josh looked as horrified as Taylor this time.

"Should you do that, just know that you're indirectly asking to be expelled." Taylor spoke and I gawked at him in horror.

"No one bats an eye at anything the special students does because that's the rule of the school. The special students are all above the rules, they're the ones who make the rules. That's why the teacher had to act blind at Malachi cheating, every teacher does, because they don't wanna lose their jobs and perhaps, their lives."

My mouth fell open in shock as I blinked at the two of them.

"But the teacher asked me to–"

Josh shook his head slowly. "He only did that because that was all he could do. He also knows that you'd be expelled if you go to the school management to report anything a special student does."

My lips thinned. "What's all this fuss about Malachi? How did he even become a special student?"

Taylor and Josh exchanged a glance.

"You don't know who Malachi is?" Josh asked and I shook my head while wondering if i was supposed to know him.

"Malachi is a vampire prince and sole heir of one of the four major clans in the state." Taylor explained and my eyes widened in shock.

I've vaguely overheard of the famous four clans in the state before, my father had talked about them a couple of times to his business partners a bunch of times.

So, Malachi is a prince and the heir of something that major? No wonder he's such an asshole and why people literally kiss the ground he walked on.

"Wow." I whispered as I began to walk forward. I made an instant turn without double checking and walked right into something which made me stumble.

When I glanced up from the pair of legs in front of my face, my eyes landed on Blaze's blank face and I almost had a heart attack at that very moment.
