Leaving the ruins

Sebastian blinked as his connection to the Marrowghast Sentinel was severed abruptly. The chaotic scenes of the villa's destruction faded, replaced by the forest.

But then he grinned and started chuckling. It got louder, more unhinged, turning into a maniacal laugh that echoed all over the place.

"Two down," he said between bouts of laughter. "Two people on my list are gone!"

Sebastian's loathing for Thomas was rooted in a history of torment and suffering.
