The rules of the game

However, Sebastian kept a stoic expression on his face. He didn't let his hunger take over him. He wasn't the kind of man to feel all this emotions for a mere woman.

Not even for anyone, and here he was, staring at Avery and listening to her beautiful heartbeat.

She lifted her gaze, closing the distance between them in order to start acting. 

The atmosphere grew tense. She felt her back wet with cold sweat because of the intensity of his gaze. Before she could speak, Sebastian beat her to it.

"Let's go," Sebastian said when he finally parted his lips. His voice is as neutral as usual.

Avery wondered if she hadn't affected him in any way. It's not like she cares.

They entwined their arms with each other as they stepped out. The smell of the fresh air made her feel alive. 

Avery and Sebastian followed the same direction people were heading, and Avery silently muttered a silent prayer in her mind.
