Fighting the Count I

"Argh!"

"What the hell!?"

"They're so fast!"

"Get them!!"

The shouts of the guard echoed around the manor as two boys charged through them.

One flashed yellow as his body was surrounded by lightning, while the other just charged at them with brute force.

"You're sure that you can convince those from the Church to help, right!?"

Regis spoke as he punched a guard in the solar plexus.

"Yes! I just need to exaggerate a bit, then they'll make a move as long as they hear that the situation has something demonic within!"

Killian responded as his body flashed with yellow electricity as he jumped from one guard to another.

He looked closely to his newly made companion and wondered if he did the right thing.

Since earlier, Regis had shown characteristics unbefitting of someone his age.

The way he was able to kill guards in one smooth motion without his expression faltering by even a little bit.

The way as if he had memorized the complex human body, knowing where to strike to ensure a guaranteed kill.

What's more was that he could somehow sense that he wasn't going all out.

'Well, it's not like I'm any better…'

Killian smiled bitterly as he, too, was aware of what he was doing.

But frankly, he couldn't care less.

There was only one goal in his mind: to make the perpetrators behind his family's fall suffer.

"We're close!"

Regis shouted as he Bull Charges his way through the guards' formation.

'This wouldn't have been so easy if the manor also had a professional guarding it… Is the Count that confident in his skills, or did something happen to them?'

This was another point that he had found strange as he and his companion caused chaos in the manor.

So far, all the guards that intercepted them didn't have the ability to control any energy.

If this wasn't the case, then it would have been a lot harder for them to just go and break out the dungeon.

'Tsk, I'll think about it later! For now, I need to focus on getting out as quickly as I can!!'

Regis thought with a feeling of urgency, he did not know just how much longer could Pandora hold the fog that enshrouded the manor.

"Let's hurry up!"

"Okay!" Replied Killian with a nod.

(Pandora, you can turn off the magic spell now!! Let's meet up at the main gate, okay?)

Seeing the fog disappear, Regis smiled but he couldn't help but feel that there was something amiss.

Still, he shook his head and decided to just ask her about it earlier.

Together, the two of them blitz through the entire manor from the dungeon up to the gate.

Bang—!

The door suddenly opened with a crashing sound.

"Shit… I forgot just how far this manor was from the main gate…"

"I know right, it really is uselessly huge…"

Regis and Killian glanced at each other before running with all their might.

Crackle— Crackle—

"Is that how fast you can go~?"

Killian asked with a smirk on his face as his body emitted lightning.

His body then began to quickly increase in speed as he sprinted with the augmentation of his electricity.

"Oho? Are you really making this into a competition?"

Regis gritted his teeth as he, too, began to accelerate. However, he was only able to close the distance to about five meters.

Any more than that was impossible since his neutral aura couldn't possibly keep up with an aura that had lightning affinity.

However, just the fact that he was able to maintain the distance between them greatly astounded Killian.

'What!? Did he really not awaken an affinity!? But what's with this speed!?'

He remembered earlier when they talked that Regis mentioned the fact that he felt sad about not awakening an affinity despite being able to form his first aura star.

However, what Killian was seeing made him wonder silently.

On the other hand, Regis only felt relieved as he looked back at the manor in the distance.

Turning his head towards the main gate, he breathed deeply, 'Just a little more… Just a little more…'

He promised himself that after he survived this, there wouldn't be any situation like this in the future.

However, just as Regis was thinking, he suddenly stopped his tracks, almost falling to the ground in the process.

"Why did you suddenly stop, Killian!?"

Regis looked towards his companion with a surprised expression as he looked at him staring speechlessly towards the main gate.

"How many friends outside did you say you have?"

"What do you mean? Only one."

"Then why are there two people standing there?"

Regis looked towards the direction where Killian was pointing and fell silent.

"What is the meaning of this? I thought you would like to help me in exchange for being with your sister? Or was that a lie too?"

One of the figures that stood before the main gate, Count Orpheus, spoke with a sad expression as he looked towards Regis.

"My Lord, I didn't know that you were so cruel as to just imprison me without any explanation." Regis bowed sarcastically in reply.

"Oho? To think that you're still able to keep your composure even in the face of a High Ranked Mage…"

He then looked towards the blonde boy at the side and spoke with surprise, "I didn't expect you to form a star at such a young age…"

"...they told me that you were a useless kid who mindlessly chased skirts around. But I guess they were wrong, seeing the way you even awakened an affinity."

"You… You were the one behind the death of my family, right?"

"From trespassing on my property to falsely accusing me, as expected of a low life…"

However, Count Orpheus smiled in the next second, "Well, I did it. But what are you going to d—"

BZZZZZTTTTTTT—

[Lightning Thrust]

TUNG!

Seeing the seemingly impenetrable barrier that stopped his sword, Killian's expression faltered.
