Taming argent

Kat sat in the middle of her bed, her knees folded in front of her chest. She heard load bang's, like someone was being thrown against the wall, the sounds continued, and Kat grew worried that the vampire might have attacked Lucian. Though she didn't like Lucian, she wouldn't wish for him to die, and he had come to her rescue. After a while, the noise suddenly stopped, followed by complete silence.

Kat was extremely terrified but took a deep breath and pushed the dressing table across the floor away from the door. Her hand reached for the door, but she paused midway, biting her bottom lip. The door knob suddenly jiggled, and Kat sprinted back. "Kat, are you okay?!" She heard Josie's worried voice speak. She pulled the door open and saw Josie, her expression worried as she examined Kat, she let out a sigh. "Where's Lucian?" Kat asked Hurriedly walking past Josie to the spot she had left Lucian, Josephine followed closely behind.

Kats step's quickened, looking ahead, and didn't see any sign of Lucian. Suddenly, in the next corridor, someone emerged, and Kat bumped into him. The familiar scent filled her nostrils. "Are you blind, or do you always just intentionally bump into me?" she heard Lucian's cold voice say. Kat met Lucian's annoyed gaze, seeing he was fine, she let out a sigh. "It's not like it's my fault, you always pop out of nowhere." She retorted.

Just then, Kat noticed Sabastian walking towards them, and Josephine caught up. "Are you alright, Miss Kat?" Sabastian asked, his expression as calm as ever. "No, I'm not. I just got chased and almost killed by a... I'm not even sure what to say, I feel like I'm going crazy!" She exclaimed. "You're bleeding," Lucian suddenly said, his gaze moving to her injured arm.

"Forget about that. Someone tell me what the hell is going on. Was that a vampire I just saw, or am I losing my mind?" Kat asked, her eyes darting to the three people around her. "You aren't mistaken, Miss Kat," Sabastian clarified. "Vampires are real." Kat muttered, Josephine held her hand. "Umm, Sabastian, I'll explain to Kat," Josephine said, tugging Kat by her hand. "Let's go, Kat." Kat was even more confused as Josie took her back to her room, shutting the door behind them. "What is going on?!" Kat asked, her voice raising. "Kat, calm down," Josie took a deep breath before exhaling. "I'm a vampire," she said, smiling awkwardly. Kat: "..."

"So was the man who tried to attack you, and brother Lucian and Sebastian. And it's not just vampires that exist here they are also werewolves, witches... well, actually, they are white witches and black witches, and creature" Josie blurted out, catching her breath at the end. Kat stared at Josie, she blinked a couple of times, unsure what to say.

"Don't freak out," Josie said, walking towards Kat. "I would never hurt you. By the way, the vampire you came across was driven by bloodlust and would have eventually been driven into madness." Kat didn't say anything and just stared blankly at her.

And Josie continued to say "Don't be mistaken by what happened today, vampires aren't bad, but not all of them are good either, just like everyone in general. People are bad, and people are good. No one probably didn't tell you about all of this because they didn't want to frighten you, but you don't have to be scared, it's normal here... vampires, humans, werewolves, and witches we coexist.

Josie stared at Kat hoping for a response but Kat just started at her, and she headed" I know this is a lot to take in...Kat are you listening" she asked to confirm, to which Kat took a deep breath. "I'm, and yes It is a lot to take. But first Is there anything else I should know about?" Kat asked.

Josie made a thoughtful expression before saying, "Well, a few, but I'll explain that to you tomorrow as it's already really late. You should get some rest." She took Kat's hand, her palm above Kat's wound. Confused, Kat stared at her the back to her hand as a greenish glow started to emit from Josie's palm, and tiny glowing green dust particles covered Kat's wound. Kat's wound began to heal, and before she could process what was happening, it had completely vanished. Kat's eyes went wide with shock. "How did you...? I think my brain just glitched"

"It's my special ability, only a very few vampires posses them. Well, good night, Kat. I'll see you tomorrow." Josie wished, she stood up and left. After Josie left, Kat lay back in her bed, her eyes blankly staring at the ceiling as she tried to process everything that had just happened, with everything Josie said playing in her head. Kat almost didn't sleep at all.

The next morning Kat woke up, and she had hoped it was a dream. It was all a dream, but when she saw the dressing table scattered and not in its right position, her hopes shattered into tiny bits. She had been living with real-life blood sucking vampires.

When Kat arrived at the dining room, Josie greeted her, and she returned the greeting, also acknowledging Sebastian, who greeted her, while Lucian was his usual self, greeting only when he felt like it. She took her seat next to Josie, her gaze staying on the tea in front of the girl. She didn't have to be told that what they drank was mostly blood; at least she now knew why Lucian barely ate anything. Josie, on the other hand, seemed quite normal to her. ' how did they get the blood?' Kat thought in a little panic.

Josie noticed Kat staring at the tea intensely. "Is something the matter?" Josie asked, to which Kat shook her head, focusing on her meal. "Sebastian," Sophie called out, "me and Kat are going horse riding; could you please prepare the horses?" Josephine requested. "Yes, my lady, I will do that at once," Sebastian responded, heading out of the dining room. Kat had initially forgotten about the plans they had for today, thanks to the whole vampire incident last night. "Thank you for last night," Kat thanked Lucian, who simply glanced at her and nodded in response. "Are you sure you can't come along with us?" Josie asked Lucian, wanting them to go together. "I'm busy, you both have fun," Lucian responded, getting up to attend to some work. "I will see you later," he said and left.

After finishing their breakfast, both girls headed to the horse stables. As Kat spotted the horses, her nerves calmed a bit. "This beauty here is Percy," Lucy introduced the horse that had a mix of brown and black shades, which she was petting. Kat also walked up to her, petting the horse. "Is he yours?" She asked. "Yes, I've had him for a few years now." There were a lot of horses, each beautiful and majestic. "Let's find you a horse," Josie said, leading the way. Kat checked out many of the horses, petting them, and they were very well-behaved. Two stables stood out from the rest; it was obvious they were more taken care of. Kat walked over to the first stable, and Josephine followed behind her.

Kat was dazzled by the majestic black stallion as she approached the stable. "Oh, I see you've met Night," Josie said, coming to stand next to Kat. "She?" Kat asked, and Josie nodded. "She belongs to Brother Lucian." Kat's eyes still stayed glued on the horse as Josie spoke. "Her name is really befitting of her," Kat commented. "Mmm, she was caught by Brother Lucian; he tamed her. She doesn't let anyone ride her except Brother Lucian. The moment anyone gets close, she avoids them. She's quite prideful for a horse." Josie huffed at the end, making Kat laugh. "She takes after her owner," Kat commented, and both girls laughed.

Josie tried to touch Night, but as she said, the horse staggered back away from her reach, making her pout, and Kat chuckle. "Really prideful for a horse, but with such beauty, who could blame her?" Kat said, her attention being caught by the next stable. "And who's this?" she said, not seeing any horse at first, but later spotting a white stallion, its appearance a contrasting opposite to Night. Josie scoffed, "That's another horse that no one rides, his name is Argent." She sighed. "Argent was also brought by Lucian on the same day he tamed Night, but... Argent was never tamed. He is really scared of people and terrified of Brother Lucian. At first, I thought it was that he was scared of vampires, but there was a day a human acquaintance of Brother Lucian tried to ride Argent, but ended up being kicked away and badly injured." She explained.

"Ugh, why are beautiful things so stubborn?" Josephine muttered. "I didn't take Lucian for someone who entertained disobedience," Kat commented, seeing as Lucian kept the horse despite not being able to tame it. Josie shrugged in response. "He might be my brother, but I can never really tell what's going on in that mind of his."

"I want to ride him," Kat suddenly said, staring at Argent. Josephine wondered if the girl hadn't heard a word she said about the horse. "Um... he won't let you, and you could get hurt. There's another horse I'm sure you would love. Her name is Belle," Josie tried to convince Kat, but Kat wasn't having it. "Come on, I'm just going to try. If he gets really violent, I will back off," Kat assured, but Josie was still worried. Kat opened the stable door, stepping inside, Josie watching in worry.

Kat approached the horse with gentle steps, her movements slow and deliberate. She extended a hand, but the horse startled back, starting to rear. "It's okay, boy, it's okay," Kat tried to calm Argent, raising her palm and facing it upwards as she slowly cornered him.

"It's okay," she whispered. "I won't hurt you." Like understanding her words, Argent calmed down and stopped rearing. Kat raised her palm, allowing him to sniff her. Sensing he was calmer, his ears perked up.

With a soft voice, she spoke reassuringly, "Easy, boy, easy." Her words were like a soothing song, calming the horse. She stroked his mane, her fingers tracing the silky strands.

As he nuzzled her hand, she carefully reached for the halter, her movements smooth and unhurried. The horse didn't flinch this time. Kat continually pet him.

Josie watching the scene in disbelief, Kat lead argent out of the stable, with a smile "he is a sweat heart" she said and argent snorted at her comment " he really likes you?" Josie said still finding it hard to believe.

The two girls, left the stables heading to the gates of the castle, while holding the rains of the houses Kat had already claimed unto argent riding on his back while Josie walked with Percy.

Lucian was about getting into the carriage when he spotted them "brother Lucian" Josie called out as they drew closer to him "you wouldn't believe it Kat tamed argent!" Josie exclaimed Lucians expression didn't change and he glanced at the horse before looking at Kat who looked away, Lucian looked back at the hoarse but this time there was something to the way he looked at it 'what is wrong with him, is he upset I tamed the horse and he couldn't' Kat though to herself noticing the way Lucian stared at Argent.

"Where are you headed" Lucian asked Josie "ummm well I was thinking we could go to the beach nearby, it's always calming and nice in the time of the year" Josie responded, but Lucian didn't seem pleased with the idea "mmm don't go to the beach, just go to the one of the castle fields" Lucian said seriously, Josie agreed, " accompany the girls. And keep them away from trouble, as one of them seems to have a thing for attracting trouble" Lucan instructed Sabastian and left in the carriage. Kat wanted to retort for the comment Lucian gave but held back her words. Josie on the other hand didn't notice the exchange between them both and initially thought Lucian was referring to her.

Sabastian followed behind the girls, on his own horse, which was fully brown in colour "does Lucian always send Sabastian out with you?" Kat asked Josephine as they rode next to each other. " Not really on when needed I guess" Josie responded " I see" Kat glanced at Sabastian behind them and he offered a polite smile which She returned.

"So as I was saying yesterday" Josie started to say. "In this world their are varieties of creatures one could come across, but most people think any other creatures which aren't vampires, werewolves, or witches to be myth's," Josie explained. To which Kat's brows furrowed.

"So... this people are in a world where vampires, werewolves, and witches exist, and they can't accept that more things might be out there. It's kind of funny to think of. I mean, me still talking about this makes me doubt if I'm sane in a way," Kat chuckled and continue to say.

"You know, the first day I arrived, I was accused of being a witch, I was so confused. And even after the Shadow Council arrived, they still questioned if I was a witch. But when I thought about it, I didn't really pay mind to it because where I come from, back in the era similar to yours, innocent people were accused of things like witchcraft, black magic or satanic worshiping and burned alive or things like that. But it was just people being paranoid, so I just thought it to be the same here."

"Witches are a very real thing, and they aren't appreciated by many. Where the power majorly rules are on the vampires, then werewolves, humans, then witches at the bottom of the chain," Josie explained.

"Unlike now, back in the days, witches weren't allowed to show themselves and would be killed if they were ever found out. But they were white witches, and the ones you never want to come across."

"The black witches," Kat said, finishing Josie's sentence, and she nodded in response. "Over time things changed, and white witches were allowed to live peacefully among the rest, who were mostly humans, but they barely are still treated as equals. Most people will find every way to have them killed out of fear, so they mostly never show there true selves and just blend in as humans. And the ones who did show themselves, did so at their own risk," Josie continued to explain.

"And why is that?" Kat asked.

"Well, for witches to show themselves openly is extremely dangerous for them. When people commit crimes, they can easily pin it on a witch and have them killed for cover up their crimes or they could just want the witch dead out of hate. Humans are fearful creatures and would selfishly do anything to keep themselves from dying, even if it means turning away from the truth." Josie paused, "umm I'm sorry," Josie apologised, not intending to upset Kat with her words.

"Not at all, you aren't wrong," Kat dismissed her worry.

"But it is understandable, as unlike us, they have less power to defend or protect themselves, so it's normal that they are paranoid," Josie added, receiving a nod from Kat.

"So have you ever come across witches?" Kat asked. "Oh yes, of course. If you are aware, I visited my aunt in Davina for a while, and Davina is the only kingdom where witches are treated as equals, mainly in the capital, some part's of the kingdom are still hustle towards them. Rumors say that the king is a witch himself, but so far all he has been declared to be is a vampire."

"Oh, I have heard of that kingdom from a friend. It sounds really peaceful, at least the way she explained it to be" Kat commented. "It is," Josephine nodded in agreement.
