Chapter 55: Wyvern (2)

Perseus POV

As I worked to scavenge valuable materials from the wyvern's corpse, I sensed something weird, and there were many of them. The eerie silence of the surrounding forest was broken by the sound of rustling leaves and the low growls of approaching creatures.

Turning swiftly, I caught sight of them, smoke wolves, their forms shifting and swirling like wisps of smoke as they prowled closer. These creatures were known for their elusive nature and their ability to transform into a cloud of smoke at will, making them formidable opponents in battle.

The smoke wolves weaved through the trees as they closed in on me. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end as I braced myself for the impending attack.

With a sudden surge of movement, the smoke wolves lunged forward, their smoky forms transforming into solid shapes as they pounced. I reacted quickly, drawing my sword and summoning a burst of wind magic to create a barrier between myself and the oncoming horde.

The wolves collided with the barrier, their smoky forms dispersing upon impact before reforming once more. Their glowing eyes burned with a fierce intensity as they snarled and snapped at the air, their hunger driving them forward in relentless pursuit.

I unleashed a barrage of fireballs, each one exploding upon impact and sending waves of heat rippling through the air. My sword was too good as it was able to cut the wolves and kill them even in their smoke form, a form where it's mostly resistant or immune to most physical attacks.

The smoke wolves recoiled from the flames, their forms flickering and wavering as they struggled to maintain their cohesion. Sensing an opportunity, I pressed forward, striking out with my sword and driving back the advancing horde.

But the smoke wolves were relentless, their numbers seemingly endless as they continued to pour forth from the shadows. Eventually, Terrence and I did drive them back in a temporary victory, but there were still many other creatures in the area, and this one wasn't just some small wolf.

As the rest of the smoke wolves retreated into the darkness, a deep rumbling reverberated through the forest, causing the very ground beneath my feet to tremble. My senses were instantly heightened, and I scanned the surrounding area, searching for the source of the disturbance.

But it wasn't originating from around me, it was somewhere from underneath, and the life signature...this one is huge.

Suddenly, emerging from the ground nearby, came a gigantic of immense size and terrifying presence, its head alone was bigger than a house. Towering above the trees, its colossal form cast a menacing shadow across the forest floor. Its massive head, adorned with razor-sharp fangs dripping with venom, loomed ominously in the dim light.

"Venom-fang titanus." Terrence uttered in shock, "They usually hibernate and rest...did it sense the dead wyverns?"

Venom-fang titanus...I recognize that name. The titanus was a fearsome predator, known for its insatiable appetite for poisonous creatures. Its immense size and strength made it a formidable adversary, capable of overpowering even the most resilient of prey.

But due to their huge appetite and lack of poisonous creatures, they are very endangered and spend most of their time sleeping, hoping that their prey would group up somewhere, though yes, it would require quite a bit of time for them to wake and get up after sensing their food...well, it's been quite a while since the wyverns were here, damn.

And now, drawn by the scent of blood and magic, it had set its sights on the wyvern corpses.

"No need to panic, it's beatable, and it's very weak in its starving phase." Terrence said

"Man, that's how a character dies in a book, they keep raising stupid flags like this."

"We will discuss your weird obsession with books later, let's just launch a lot of attacks on it, but don't get hit by its venom, it will melt you."

With a swift leap, I launched myself at the titanus and dodged its venom spray as I activated my eyes of Ra to pair with my eyes of Horus. I struck at its flanks, slicing through its thick scales with all the force I could muster. And luckily my sword was really great quality because I managed to pierce through its hide and cut through it.

It was practically highly resistant to a lot of my spells though, but I can't just rely on my blade, it's too small, and its morphing ability can't just transform into some 100m sword. I then just ran up the creature and cut through its hide by dragging my sword and cutting it open little by little.

Elpis separated from me and flew to its eyes and just continuously shot light magic at its tongue and insides while also using light to sear its eyes, distracting it from me and Terrence. Terrance was using some lightning-clad knuckles to punch through its hide, and his hits were somewhat effective after a while, but he was mostly just giving it bruises.

He then jumped up onto the titan and used his magic to punch at my cuts to cause it immense pain instead.

After landing on its head, I attacked the titanus from every angle, exploiting every opportunity to land a telling blow. Yet still, the creature remained unyielding, its massive head swatting me away like a mere nuisance. I stabbed its eyes and jumped onto the top of its head to stab it and stayed in place as its head swayed and shake around.

I then channel all my mana into my sword, causing the sword to shoot all sorts of spells into its head, and with full power, I channeled fie magic onto the sword, which made it continuously shoot fire magic in its skull, breaking it bit by bit, and eventually, after like 30 minutes, broke past its skull and hit the brain.

Which, after several more hits, it flopped and fall down, causing another tremor as its head fall hard onto the earth.
