Chapter 13: Find a Doctor_1

Yang Sanni hurriedly bent down, picked up the Copper Coins, and held them close to her chest.

In the face of life and death, dignity and the like were no longer important

"You go ask the Doctor… I'll take care of Mother…" Yang Ruxin glanced at Sanni, "Be quick and come back soon…"

Yang Sanni nodded and ran out the door, as if afraid that running any slower would cause the copper coins to be taken back.

There was no doctor in Dapu East Village; common ailments were typically dealt with by visiting Doctor Li in Xiaobudong Village. Luckily, the two villages were adjacent, with only a small Xiaocang River separating them. Three stone bridges connected the two, and to reach the western Xiaocang Mountain, residents of Dapu East Village had to pass through Xiaobudong Village. Conversely, those in Xiaobudong Village had to pass through Dapu East Village to get to the town or county city. Thus, travel between the two was quite frequent and convenient.

In fact, when people from other villages talked about this place, they usually just referred to it as Budong Village, without distinguishing between the "big" or "small."

Li Yi had just finished treating Yang Dani that morning and had just returned home to have lunch when he saw Yang Sanni rush in, causing him to frown: "Sanni, is your older sister not well? That shouldn't be…"

"Uncle Li…" Yang Sanni shook her head, "My big sister is fine; she woke up earlier. It's… it's my mother… she has a fever…"

"My goodness, was it caused by your grandma's beating? That old woman Yang is courting death..." Li Yi's wife, Li Lengshi, couldn't help but sigh, "Is she trying to create a fatal situation?"

"Auntie, I know you care for us, but please don't talk about it. If Grandma finds out…" Sanni gave a bitter smile.

"It's hard for you, girl." Li Lengshi sighed. "Don't worry; your auntie understands."

"Let's go take a look…" Li Yi didn't say much, put down his chopsticks, picked up his medicine chest and walked out.

"Dad, I'll go with you…" Li Jiaya ran out of the house.

"What are you going for?" Li Lengshi quickly tried to hold back her young daughter.

"I'm going to help Dad…" Li Jiaya, however, quickly ran out of the door.

"This child…" Li Lengshi sighed and glanced at the table, "Are we even going to eat?" She got up anyway and put the food in the pot to keep it warm.

"Sanni, this is a piece of ginger candy my dad brought back from his last visit to the Li family estate to treat someone. Here, take a piece…" Li Jiaya, seeing her mother didn't catch up, finally stopped, walked alongside Yang Sanni, and took out a piece of ginger candy from her pouch, "It's spicy and very tasty…"

Yang Sanni shook her head: "I don't like it…" and then she quickly walked ahead.

Li Jiaya was stunned for a moment, then pouted to herself, thinking you don't like it? Have you even tried it? Who doesn't know your family – especially your main household – can barely get enough to eat? But she didn't say anything more and put the ginger candy back, quickly catching up with her father towards Dapu East Village.

In the annex room of the Yang Family, Xun Hui had already become delirious from the fever, babbling nonsense and scaring Erni and the others into tears.

"What's there to cry about?" Yang Ruxin walked in and barked, "She's not dead yet…" Then she checked Xun Hui's forehead; the cold compress wasn't working well. She then turned to Yang Erni, "Where can we find some liquor?"

"Liquor?" Yang Erni was taken aback.

"Big sister, I know…" Yang Rufeng suddenly tugged on Yang Ruxin's clothes, "Uncle has some in his room, he drinks..."

Hearing this, Yang Ruxin turned and walked out again.
