Chapter 27: Soaring Power

Having added the Hundred Card Set to his collection book, Gu Ran's gaze fixated on the card in his right hand.

This card was none other than the Black Iron Quality Card "Gathering Master" that had prompted him to bid for the Hundred Card Set.

Seeing that it had indeed been extracted from the set and would now be his own, Gu Ran felt a weight lift from his heart.

Even with the assurance of the Eye of Insight, the possibility of being deceived was almost negligible, but after all, it had cost him 300 card points. With such a huge number of card points involved, nervousness was inevitable, and without seeing for himself, it was hard to be completely at ease.

He didn't linger on the "Gathering Master" card for long; he had already inspected it carefully during the auction.

After adding it to his collection book as well, Gu Ran's attention once again delved into his mind, this time directly opening his character attribute panel.

This time in the Void Trading Ground, he had indeed been quite generous, acquiring quite a few things.

Now, what he wanted was to get a more direct sense of his gains from this trip.

[Name: Gu Ran]

[Race: Human/Card Master]

[Age: 21]

[Level: 3 (0/60)]

[Personal Card Book: 9/9]

[Miracle Cards: Red Copper (Void Trading Ground, Hundred Card Set), Black Iron (Gathering Master), Blue Stone (Eye of Insight, Bone Longspear, Bone Armor, Contract Card, Fire Keeper Shard*1, Primary Storage Card Shard*1)]

[Card Points: 36]

...…

Looking at his attributes, Gu Ran couldn't be more satisfied. He had the Bone Longspear for offense, Bone Armor for defense, and the Eye of Insight for control and scouting. He even had the Gathering Master for clearing the battlefield.

One could say that this was the most perfect set of cards he could currently assemble for himself.

Although he didn't look much different from a day earlier on the outside, having had a full nine-card slot in his personal card book before entering the trading ground and still having it full upon leaving, the change within was dramatic.

Not to mention anything else, just a day ago, only two of the nine card slots were filled with complete cards, and the rest were shards. And now, the number of complete cards in the nine slots had surged to seven.

Just this fact alone explained everything, not to mention that the newly added cards included one of Red Copper Quality and one of Black Iron Quality.

...…

"Huff!"

His breathing through his nostrils was somewhat heavy. Having looked over his attributes, a strong sense of confidence surged in his heart.

If before activating the Void Trading Ground he had estimated his strength to be above roughly seventy percent of the survivors in Jiang City, those who had awakened their personal card books and held official levels,

Now, he couldn't say ninety-nine percent, but at least ninety percent should not be a big problem.

And this also meant that he had now virtually joined the ranks of the peak survivors in Jiang City.

Thinking of this, naturally, he couldn't avoid the excitement in his heart.

However, this surge of emotion did not linger in his heart for long, as he was well aware that all of this stemmed from the "Void Trading Ground" card in his hand.

Although it was just a single trade meet, it had brought him a staggering four hundred plus card points.

It was these four hundred plus points that allowed him to establish a significant early advantage in just one day.

But precisely because of this, Gu Ran dared not relax in the slightest.

He remembered very well the nearly two hundred orbs of light that had fallen from the sky that day, and if he could quickly gain an advantage from one of them, what about others?

With nearly two hundred orbs of light, there couldn't possibly be only one lucky person, right?

...…

Dispelling various thoughts from his mind, Gu Ran took a deep breath, and no matter what, he had already secured an orb of light and used it to establish a not insignificant advantage. As long as he did not slack off from now on, without talking about anything else, securing a certain influence in Jiang City was definitely achievable.

Of course, there was one condition for this: he must manage the monthly trade meet well. As long as he could maintain a good reputation, it would mean a large sum of card points every month, and with it, he could continuously preserve his advantage.

Furthermore, he suspected that the orb of light he received might not be the only one; the second Red Copper card in his hand, the "Hundred Card Set," could very well be from one of those nearly two hundred orbs of light that had descended that day.

Without dwelling on this, Gu Ran's gaze flashed as he looked out the window. Whether the "Hundred Card Set" was indeed from one of those descending orbs of light, it now belonged to him in any case. The information about another orb of light flickered through Gu Ran's mind.

After all, he had witnessed the entire process of the orbs falling from the sky, and naturally, he was aware of more than one specific fall location.

However, the "Void Trading Ground" was the closest amidst the green forests, and it was the most likely to be acquired, which is why he hadn't bothered with the rest until now.

But now was different; having acquired the Void Trading Ground and almost confirming that those descending orbs of light were rare opportunities, who could endure not pursuing them?

However, the location of the second orb he remembered fell was quite far, seemingly in the interior of Dongshan Park, more than a mile away from his residential building.

As for the exact location, he wasn't quite sure, because his view was blurry at the time.

This wasn't good news, for although Dongshan Park wasn't large, it was not exactly small either. With only a rough area defined, the difficulty was naturally significant.

But this couldn't affect Gu Ran's determination: compared to the value of those fallen orbs, how could he give up the chance that might be within reach, even if it was difficult?

Given Gu Ran's character, that was naturally impossible.

...…

Although he had determined his next target, Gu Ran did not act rashly. Right now, his primary goal was to improve his strength.

Not to mention that Dongshan Park was more than a mile away from his residential building, who knew how many frightful monsters were gathered along the way, and even within his current residential building, there was still a big uncertainty on the top floor.

All this required sufficient strength to resolve.

But speaking of the Goblins on the seventh floor, Gu Ran instinctively felt some desire to encounter them again. Last time, he had fled in a most wretched state, but now his strength was different from before. Was it possible for him to meet them again?

Honestly, he was still fond of the "Chieftain's Whistle" card; if he could get another one, it would be quite useful as cannon fodder to attract aggro at critical moments.

After pondering for a moment, he eventually shook his head, dismissing the idea. With his current strength, killing Dark Skeletons to accumulate essence was the safest method; there was no need to seek a thrill from confronting a whole group of Goblins.
