So there they were, in the spartan office, Song Tan squatting before the coffee table, swiftly filling out forms without a need for thought. Meanwhile, at the desk, the person in charge and the animal caretaker stared at the large swaths of blank forms, their minds equally blank.

"So...how do we fill this out?"

"One person adopting four sick and injured dogs, how, how, how do we fill this out?"

The two scratched their heads and fidgeted in their seats, utterly unable to write even a single word.

Song Tan had given them a tough problem, yet she seemed completely unaware. She had quickly finished filling out the four forms and capped her pen in one swift motion:

"There, all done now, right? If there's nothing else, I'm off to collect my three treasures. It's quite hot outside."

Although she hadn't locked her car door, the midday shade was still stiflingly hot. It was better to enjoy the air conditioning inside.
