Chapter 5:

"Grandpa, lets' go"

Yuna call out.

Grandpa Orion came forward and put Yuna at his shoulder.

Drizzle..

The pouring of rain rang loudly, Grandpa Orion open the door and walk out. As soon as they walk out, the rain parted forming a container like shape around them.

Yuna control the water that was falling and let it avoid her and her grandfather.

"This save the trouble of needing to bring an Umbrella, Little Yu is amazing!"

Grandpa Orion does not forget to compliment his lovely granddaughter.

"This much is nothing" Yuna said haughtily, flicking her non-existent bang.

"Haha… My amazing Granddaughter"

"Hehehe"

Jovially, both the granddaughter and the grandfather make their way towards the shop.

"Hmm…?"

On their way to the shop, Yuna notice a boy walking under the rain and make his way towards the forest.

It was Austin.

'He must've want to hunt some prey to sold at the merchant guild and earn some money'

The male protagonist just like her also gains a relative.

For him, it was a sick but loving mother.

For Choi Min who was an orphan and never receive such a warm love desperately clung on it and work to the bones to save his sick mother from dying.

As a financially struggled family of two, Austin register himself as an adventurer and take low and mid level mission, all the money he earned is burned away in medical expenses.

Yuna purse her lips and move her gaze away.

Austin seemingly to perceive a gaze turn his head and locked his eyes on the back of Yuna who was being carried at the shoulder of her grandfather. He silently looked at the girl back before withdrawing his gaze.

The bread that he received for free was tightly packed inside the worn out waterproof bag for his lunch inside the forest.

Wherever the place, school is always boring and annoying.

"…..This kind of creature liked to dwell in dark and dirty places…..blah blah blah…."

Yuna eyes started to become vacant and she started to day dream.

When lunch time arrived, Yuna make her way towards the last bench.

She put a big lunch box on the table and said "Come, eat with me again to finish it lest grandpa scold me for not finishing lunch again" so don't think that I am a kind person.

"...En"

Austin clamped his stomach that was protesting in hunger.

As his training became more intense and his absorption of mana increase, he easily gets hungry due to rapid growing of mana.

His financial condition makes it such that he could not eat enough even if he wants to.

Austin found it hard to say No to someone who offer him food when he was severely hungry and lacking in enough nutrients to keep up with his growth. All the prey he caught, he sold it without leaving for any himself as his mother need to consume medicine everyday so that she will not have a painful relapse.

His mother could only consume medicinal soup as other food makes her throw up. For him, he has been relying on the free bread he received for the past few days.

Obviously, it was far from enough to abate the child growth and increasing need of nutrients.

Recently, the girl called Yuna would approach him to share lunch with him. Obviously, a little girl will not bring such a big lunch box for herself. And Austin was smart enough to know that she did so to help him in her own way.

It was the second kind person he met in this world aside from his mother.

The world became a bit more breathable.

"...Did Yuna have a crush on Austin?"

"I think she must be…."

"Tsk…. Shamelessly approaching male"

Of course the bright and good looking Austin will have admirer.

"Children these days, instead of wasting time in mindless gossip should study more"

Yuna tutted while shaking her head.

Austin a grown up at soul although unaffected could not remain oblivious when he think about the girl who is still only a child in his view became the centre of mean gossip and pointed eyes because of him.

"….Sorry" Austin whisper, hearing Yuna snide comment

"Who are they to me? Why should I mind? …. Who are them to you, why should you apologize for them? Tch.. Eat"

"Oh…"

Austin wisely decides to remain quiet at the little girl acting like a mature adult and scold him. His instinct told him that if he was to say more, he will get to no end on scolding.

His instinct rarely fails him.

"You come to the shop after school, there is too many leftover bread that we can only throw away. You take them home to eat"

"..Thank you"

"Tch"

Yuna although not exactly a good person is not a cold and emotionless machine. She was not so indifferent to directly ignore someone who is having a hard time.

So what if he's a male protagonist that will face many hardship and people close to him might get entangled with him? It's not like he want to either!

She has to speak for her own conscience.

What's wrong with trying to alleviate a small hardship for him?

At the end of the day, she is still a reader and has affection for main character.

She never state that she will ignore the main character and get as far away as possible. She just don't want to follow him everywhere and be caught up in his trials.

Feeding him to relieve his hunger is just her trying to uphold that small bit of her conscience. Since she know his hardship and she can help him in some way without for her needing to suffer in anyway, of course, as a normal socialist citizen, she will help him.

As for money, bah.

Even she herself is a poor ghost. Most town peopleare not exactly loaded with money.

More than half of the food went to Austin stomach and Yuna contently got up and go back to her seat.

It's nice being able to feed the main character. She has fulfilled the dream of many readers with mother mentality who was distressed for their child (Main character) who is starving.

When the class is over, Austin walk along with Yuna under the rain— who, part the rain that was pouring down.

"You don't seem to like training"

Austin look at Yuna ease at bending element and starts a conversation to break the silence.

Although she never seem to train much, Austin can see that she is unexpectedly better in controlling elements compare to children her age who work hard.

"Hmm…. I am the do less work but strive to achieve more, those kind of high intense training is not for me"

Austin chuckle lowly

She seem to have her own way and it bodes better result than the others.

Yuna rolls her eyes at him and continue "Although I am not of high nobility or a pampered rich young miss, I still will not wrong myself to do things that I know I don't have the strength for"

"You don't vie for strength?"

"…It's not that I am indifferent to gaining strength and to be stronger, I just want to gain strength at my own pace even if all my peers go far ahead of me. I know I am lazy and unmotivated, I also know that I lack when compared to those hard working peers to become stronger. I'm not envious, I like the way I go with my life"

Austin listen quietly and when she finish her speech, he comment seriously "They say that having a goal to live stably and leisurely without any care in the world is unambitious and cannot be considered a goal but it is often the goal that is the most hard to achieve. Some people work all their life just to achieve that kind of stability and care freeness"

Yuna listening to him slowly point out "Just like you"

"...Umm….just like me, I want strength to protect my peace"

Because he will not be able to keep and protect those close to him if he was weak, a lesson he learns deeply in his previous life.

Yuna just smile slightly, not encouraging him that he will surely achieve it.

'Hah… main character always has it so hard'

Yuna sigh with pity.
