Chapter 40 Admission #3

"Are you guys okay?"

Scilla heard the girl asked her that, "Thank you, we are fine" She replied curtly observing the two who arrived.

"That…. Is your friend.. injured?" The girl was indicating towards their youngest.

Although not necessarily injured, Scilla don't want to disclose much information to strangers, it is always right to be wary of other.

"He will be fine" Scilla replied drily, not intending on going into details. Answering her, Scilla gaze get attracted by the boy with golden hair, her attention shifting back to the boy.

Yuna fell into a thought at the lack of attention she receive from the girl. Her romance filled brain come up with a cheesy reason of the girl before her being attracted to Austin good looking self not to mention him saving them from a monster a moment ago.

He perfectly embodied the act of saving the damsel in distress.

Indeed, Scilla is attracted to Austin but not in a way Yuna thought so.

She was attracted to his strength and became increasingly vigilant witnessing his ease of dealing with a high rank monster. If in the worst case scenario, he turns out to be a very competitive person and want to eliminate any potential competitors, she will not be his match all!

She has seen others teaming up and sabotaging others, even forcing some to withdraw from the competition. After all, the seats are limited. There are thousands of student competing for the limited seats.

The person she is deeply wary of does not pay attention to her in the slightest as if her very existence is worthless. He kept his eyes lock on the girl with black hair, nothing seems important to him except her. Immediately, Scilla make up her mind to use the girl with black hair to threaten him if he decides to make a move on them.

Scilla subtly shift closer to the girl but the person gaze instantly landed on her. His gaze dark; seemingly able to see through all her thought as if laid bare before him.

Scilla heart skip a beat— that kind of gaze….. goosebumps formed, the hair on her arm stood up. A strong sense of danger permeates and envelops Scilla, the grip on her claymore tightened. Her fingers exerting force to calm her rapidly pounding heart.

The silent confrontation seems to exclude the person standing in the centre between them. Her obliviousness and relax expression of checking out Scilla and her siblings apparent.

"That…..is your friend suffering from Elezar?"

Hearing the name of the disease, Scilla head abruptly turn, her gaze now cold and her tone dripping a few degrees colder "What do you want?"

Is she trying to threaten her with her younger brother? Scilla cannot help but think of the worst. Ever since she was aware, all the people beside her, all those who approach her, they are never those with good intention. She only has her blood related siblings that she can truly trust and gave her sincere care.

Yuna however lacking and ignorance of others emotion she might be…..Well…actually, she was typically not interested in gauzing and assessing people emotion because it was damn tiring. Especially after coming to this world, she has become even more lackluster; not trying to be perceptive of others emotion around her anymore.

Right now, even though Yuna didn't pay particular attention to how other perceive her notice the tone that have grow cold.

Yuna look back and forth at the girl before her and the child who was being carried.

The girl does not approve of her prying nature of the child who was carried. Yuna finally paying attention to people and not live in her own world finally perceive the wary look of the girl.

"Don't get me wrong…..I am somewhat of an apothecary and read about people who suffer from Elezar, I could infer some details of what I learned by seeing your friend"

Her master had practically forced her to memorize all sorts of disease that have been known since, there are thousands and Yuna could not memorize in such a short time. Of the thousands disease, she memorize only about forty to fifty.

The reason she know about Elezar is nothing more than the fact that it was on the first few pages, the well known disease are on the forefront of the book and the less well known occupying the later pages of the book.

Although her master gave her a disappointed look for being such a slouch in studying, Yuna is incredibly impressed by her ability to memorize details and not be hazy about it the next day and the days after…if…you ignore her repeatedly reading and memorizing days and night even accompanied with visual picture. But even in her previous life, Yuna study likewise but after a long stretch of time, if she does not repeatedly visit the memory, it became hazy and she has to learn anew again, although learning it again became much easier as she has memorized it long before.

Still, it has never been as clear as now, being able to remember so vividly.

Whatever she learn are used to be vomited out on the exam paper and became obsolete after, a thing of the past. After graduating from high school, all the things she learn have been packed up in a nicely wrapped gift box and being sent back to her high school teacher.

Her body is filled with elements, truly, her body is no longer that of a humane….a type of human body she remembers and used to have. Maybe, it can be because of such elements. Not being able to come to a concrete reason, Yuna simply put a stop to such thought not wanting to engage in meaningless guessing.

Not wanting to linger on such thought, Yuna took out a potion from her storage pouch, her master gift. The very expensive storage pouch that she always covets but dare not buy it as its price was too exorbitant.

"I have a potion that could alleviate the pain… or…" Unsure, Yuna still continue "Have he taken his medication? After all those suffering from Elezar will feel constant pain so much so that even speaking becomes a heavy burden as if their throat is being scorched. Not taking their medication on time means they have to suffer the pain akin to their body being gnawed by countless ants"

With each word spoken, Scilla face became paler and paler, her younger brother Frine eyes tremble.

Scilla knows that people who suffer from Elezar grew weaker and weaker, that is what the apothecary near the slum said but he does not provide further explanation on what type of suffering they go through if they do not take medication. He was just a low level apothecary, not having a deep understanding. He only knew how to concoct simple cold potion, headache and minor body pain.

The price of medication is not something children wedge inside the slum could afford.

Thankfully, their youngest manifest an ability and she was determine to bring him in inside the academy in hope that even the apothecary students could look into her brother. She is ready to plead anyone, the teacher will be more capable than anyone to get their youngest cured and even secured a future for their youngest inside the academy.

Elezar disease is well known though suffered by minority. If not because the medication required is long and that the potion requires some expensive herbs to concoct, it won't be so expensive. This kind of disease, the children coming from her place is likely a death sentence to them. Anyone suffering from it will be immediately abandoned as they can't afford to attend it.

Scilla look at their youngest weak and pale face.

He used to call her big sister so sweetly, his gaze innocent, smiling so happily even if their life is hard.

No wonder his smile cease…no wonder he stop talking…

She has only initially thought that those suffering from Elezar will grow weaker and even lose their mobility. The cruel reason they cease movement was because they are suffering extreme pain all along.

Scilla eyes redden, wanting to cry so badly. Just the thought of their youngest suffering day and night beside them without them knowing hurt so much that she wished she could replace him, taking all his pain.

Their youngest blink at her weakly, seemingly telling her that it does not hurt that much. Their sensible youngest…even now…

Scilla felt a stab in her heart. The sight of their youngest weakly lying on Frine back suddenly became such an eyesore especially when she remembers what Yuna has just repeated.

Feel constant pain akin to their bodies being gnawed by countless ants

Such a cruel disease…

Why??? Why to them??

"If he didn't take his medication yet, I suggest you let him take immediately"

Yuna suddenly feel confused seeing the girl on the verge of shedding tears.

What…what happened?

She was just talking…did she say something wrong?

Ahh..this is the reason why she don't like interacting with people!

Man, she should not have cave in to her vanity, seeing the grateful expression of those children when she gave them the recovery potion she concoct seem to get over her head. After all, she concoct them, the herbs coming from her own garden and as a natural lazy person does not even bother studying the market price of potion just gave away freely.

In her previous life, when her neighbor run out of cold medicine and such, they came to 'borrow', likewise, if their family runs out, it was common to grab it from a neighbor.

Even if a stranger gets injured and there are some people who happen to bring their first aid kit everywhere would use it on the injured without demanding compensation.

Yuna has brought over that mindset in her current world. It does not harm helping someone but most of all, her vanity being satisfied and standing on such a high moral ground is incredibly pleasant. Aaiss….she can sure understand those hateful self righteous people. cough…

But now that she seems to have gone too far, the pleasant feeling long gone, Yuna promise herself not to engage so enthusiastically anymore. She will ignore it as much as possible from now on.

Indeed, human relationship is complicated and cumbersome.

Damn her mortal sin. Sigh….
