"The 'establishing of intentions' ability, just as Senior Liu has guessed, helps Confucian cultivators reach that critical step more swiftly," Liang Wenshu explained.
"This ability is more valuable to you than any other Confucian treasures, even compared to the Saint's carving knife or the Confucian Crown in the Jixia School."
"We both know that for a Great Confucian to advance further, the key is establishing one's intention," he continued. "Whether it's to create a moral foundation for the world, as Professor Zhou did, or to seek a path of mutual dependence with imperial power, as Half Saint Cheng did—this is what 'establishing intention' is all about."
Liang Wenshu's tone became serious as he spoke. "I understand that many Confucians look down on Half Saint Cheng, thinking he is inferior to Xun Zi of the Minor Saint Hall, or Mencius, who sacrificed himself for righteousness, or even Professor Zhou, who dared to lead the world with new ideals."
