Chapter 30

"Are you telling me that everyone who entered today came back out half-dead?"

"They've been throwing up all morning, and I heard that half of them are out of their minds. I told them to stop, but they insisted. I just don't understand them, hmph."

The women's hands were as busy as their mouths. Today, the Master and the Mistress were going to leave for the Palace. If there was even a tiny mistake, they'd all get an earful from Elly. Everyone's eyes were alert as they looked over the materials so as not to miss any imperfections.

"You reap what you sow, so how can anyone do anything out of fear? I heard that a few maids put rocks in the rice and side dishes. The Mistress claimed that she wasn't hungry and told them to eat the food instead. They weren't able to say a squeak in protest and ate it all. I feel like it would've been better if they just served her like they did before."
