The lawyer's glance lingered on Linden but quickly shifted, preventing any interpretation of his look. "At least it's just one shot, and they agreed you can administer it at home. If you have any adverse effects after the injection, let me know immediately, and I'll appeal for you."

They walked back along the towering, spacious corridor. This time, Seraphina didn't stomp her high heels as forcefully as she had on the way there. The three of them walked in silence until they reached the end of the corridor where the lawyer extended his hand for a shake.

"After all, you don't live on the third floor," Seraphina tilted her head as she shook his hand. "Goodbye."

"I really recommend a robotic companion," the lawyer said earnestly. "Consider it."

"Don't push your quirks on me. Goodbye," Seraphina flippantly sized up the lawyer, who paused then smiled slightly.
