The look in his eyes was that of disgust. She had no idea he could make such an expression. He looked at her as though she were covered in all the filth of the world.

"What did you say?" His voice went so much darker that again, Neriah looked around her in search of the door. She could not say exactly why she was feeling so scared, but something just made her uneasy. Maybe it was the eerie atmosphere that the room had, or the man before her, she was not certain. However, she fixated her eyes on the door, calculating the distance between her and the door, keeping it in her head before turning her eyes back to him.

"Lyle," She tried to maintain a calm countenance once more, "I know I am sounding selfish right now. You have done so much for me and I am grateful for the love you gave me. I really am, however, this child," She placed her hand on her belly, trying her best to maintain eye contact with him as she spoke, "deserves its father."
