A long Night II

Lisa and I returned to the noisy hall a second time, only this time George was the center of attention. People crowded around him with congratulatory messages on their lips. Lisa and I stood aside and watched the entire drama, and occasionally would smile and exchange pleasantries with any of the guests that cared to approach us.

Is her life in danger? I couldn't stop thinking about her. I wanted to pick up my phone, call Damon, and instruct him to begin a search for Maeve immediately. But was immediately stopped by the sudden feel of Maeve's presence.

Instinctively, I turned my head towards where I thought she was likely to be, but found no trace of her.
