Dragonheir Trial: Resonance (pt.3)!

She sat.

For hours—maybe days in this warped time—she sat.

She focused inward, feeling for the Ki the dragon spoke of.

At first it was like grasping fog—formless, elusive, always slipping away when she reached. Her instincts told her to push harder. Command it. Demand it.

But Ki didn't respond to force. The more she tried to grip it, the more it flowed out of her reach.

"Come on," she hissed. "Where are you?!"

Nothing.

She growled and slammed her fist into the ground, but it only echoed in the mist. No pain. No reaction. Just more silence.

Naelith's voice returned, faint and distant. "Ki cannot be forced. It flows where it wills."

"Then how am I supposed to use it?!" she shouted.

"You must let go."

Iris sat down and meditated again with a huff.

She thought of her past—her coldness, her distance. Her pride in control.
