The background seemed like zooming out just from the speed Azrael displayed. But it was more likely because his eyes were only focused on the front, and the noises entering his ears were defeated by the loud thumping of his heart.

His steps were doubled the size of his normal ones, and when the lift didn't cooperate with him, closing in just before he reached it, he did not hesitate to climb the stairs.
