Part 9

In those times, and even in present times too, the daughter of a family is treated as the daughter of the whole village. This is what we say unity. Roshini's village was a living example of those times, the problems of a daughter belonged to the whole village. So Veer family does not want to create any long-term disputes among the villages, so they tried to avoid problems for five years but now they have to answer why they are not taking Roshini back. So, they agreed to take Roshini back, two days earlier, before Veer returned to the village.

Chaos, in the house, was created by Veer's presence. Everybody has to answer Veer too, why they are making the situation more complex. Veer didn't want to listen to any of those answers, So he ran towards his room and locked the door from inside. Everyone pleaded with him one by one to open the door but he didn't listen. He did not even eat food the whole day, because he felt like why he was existing. What is the purpose of his life? Why he was born? And he had many other questions but whom to ask?

After one week, Roshini came, all agreed that Roshini would stay with the oldest sister-in-law and she would not enter Veer's room. Roshini didn't say a word. She believed her fate was already written and now she must bear it whatever comes.

As she was the youngest daughter-in-law she had to make food for them or we can say they have given her punishment to stay with them. During those five years she learned cooking, how to serve food, and many other things that married women should know.

She always eats last in the family. Many times happened that she had to go for fasting 2-3 days because of low ingredients in the kitchen or food was given to their cows and buffalo just to show her reality. Even if they don't want to do it sometimes they do it because of frustration. The husbands beat their woman and women fought among themselves and the blame was thrown on her heads. And they say every bad thing happens because of her existence in the house. Veer, know that this was not new and the blame was wrong. But he doesn't interfere in their matters or try to save Roshini from their cruelty. Days passed, months passed and they now beat her too for a little mistakes or when someone jokingly said she did something wrong.

After one year, on 5 April 1999, Veer's Father died.

Things take a new turn, the whole family becomes silent for one week. But in this silence, there was so much whispering that it was lightening in the rain...
