Thinking of all the lies she told him and the despicable things she did to be with him, she couldn’t accept it. She didn’t want to live with a belly full of deceit with the person she loves. She would rather not have it any more than be tied to him.
Thinking of how Ronan might be persecuted for what she was, she felt her heartache.
“I don’t deserve you. You are too good for me! I can’t marry you!” Braelyn sobbed as she pulled the ring off her finger, her gaze straying away from him as she said that. Her body trembling and looking guilty while doing so.
Ronan, hearing that, had an inkling that something was happening that he wasn’t aware of, and whatever it was, it was big enough for Braelyn to reject his proposal.
He wasn’t an idiot, and he knew her feelings for him. So why wasn’t she happy but acted like this?
“Kitten, what is happening?” he couldn’t help but ask her as he grabbed her hands with his, forcing her to look at him.
