Peace had lurked on earth for longer than it needed to. Its time was overdone and even the humans who inhabited it had long accepted that fact. It hadn't been 3 years past the discovery of a new habitable domain before its own inhabitants sought to wreak havoc upon earth itself. They earned the name "Anomalies" that seemed to be invulnerable to modern weapons. Even going to limits where nukes turned into ordinary bullets to them.
There was no hope for humans, a new form of species had invaded their home planet, and none wished to negotiate peace with the other. As a result, the invisible forces that once watched the galaxies from the luxury of their thrones, decided it was best to save their only normal entities by bestowing upon them abilities far beyond their own knowledge. And thus came the new era for humans, an era opened with bloodshed and seemingly willing to provide more. Yet with all that still occurring, one aspect to life came to prove itself worthy everyone's time.
Power. The end goal that all souls seek, each for their own reasons. With the world in dismay and chaos overtaking it, the only thing that anyone would need is power. The power to help those in need, the power to raise your living standards, to be seen as a star...a radiant figure among the people of your own generation...or to simply take what you want, whenever you want, however you want it and wherever it is.
Power isn't a blessing nor a curse, it's what you choose it to be...and only those who truly have a sound mind can understand the weight of it.
"Congratulations Liu Chen on entering a new realm of possibilities" A golden interface popped up in front of him as his levitating body enveloped by a dim blue glow descended onto the wooden flooring of his room.
"Finally..." Liu Chen mumbled out, clenching his fists as he took in a deep breath.
The night was still and silent, but the energy within it had changed for a period that would remain unknown. For the first time in history, a mortal had finally managed to break through the limits of reality and step into a new era of capabilities. Even the deities that had blessed them with the superhuman abilities that they possessed would not be ready to learn of this new existence.
"Congratulations, young master." A young female spoke from behind him clad in a maid's uniform, her tone soft and calm.
"its satisfactory, though it could have come sooner than it did." Liu Chen responded, putting on his light neon robe before sliding his balcony door open and receiving the cool night breeze.
His joy was unconcealable. The trash son of the Liu family who was believed to have barely any aptitude for any superhuman ability, was now the only being to have surpassed even deities themselves without anyone knowing. Anyone in his shoes would have been springing up and down in joy, he wished to do so as well.
"Lullaby," Liu Chen called out, his tone calmed as he stared out to the technologically veiled sky, " I'm assuming you came here at this hour for other reasons apart from congratulating me, am I right?"
"Master Tianlong sent me," The female responded, her tone not varying by a single inch, "He says that tomorrow will be the final chance for you to prove your place in the family."
A chuckle escaped Liu Chen after hearing this set of news.
"A final chance...huh." He let out sarcastically before leaning onto the railing, "and what do you say about this Lullaby?"
The female paused for a second, worry written on her face for a second before shifting back her gaze to the new teenager Infront of her.
"I'm only a mere servant of this household..." She began hesitantly before clearing her hesitation, "I'd advise you to go, young master."
A short moment of silence took over the room, one that was filled by the sound of the blowing breeze that swayed Liu Chen's robe softly. Shortly after, a dim blue light appeared from his palm before a bright neon flame formed at the center, slightly filling the female with fear.
Liu Chen observed the movements of the fire in his grasps, its color bouncing off and on his eyes with a glint revealing each time...then a smile finally appeared on his face before he clenched his fist and put out the flame.
"Tell him that I'll be there on time. The old man does know how to complain." He responded calmly; his eyes set on the technological sky with his menacing smile still printed onto his face.
