Gavin Reeves froze. His pulse roared in his ears, drowning out everything else.

"Who are you? How did you know?"

The rider atop the horse moved with eerie confidence, his dark hood concealing most of his face. But then, with deliberate slowness, he pulled it back, revealing a face that was both familiar and foreign. The same wheat-colored skin. The same black hair. Yet, it wasn't Mario Diaz who sat before him.

Gavin's breath hitched. His world tilted.

"You…"

The man smiled, his lips curling in amusement.

Gavin Reeves' eyes widened as he met a man who looked a little similar to his father.

"Athos!" It was a whisper.

"So you recognize me now," he said, his voice laced with dark satisfaction. "You always doubted me, didn't you? You were careless, Lakan Nayou. If my mission wasn't tied to Tala, I could have ended you without you even realizing it."

Nayou's hands clenched into fists. His chest burned with unspoken fury.
