A DETERMINATION THAT BORDERED ON FANATICISM

Emily and Aidan dashed through the hallways of the police station, their footsteps echoing in a frenetic cadence as they searched for their mother and sister. At last, they arrived at the designated holding cells, where they were met by a uniformed officer.

"Your mother and sister are in here." He explained, leading them to the barred door.

"Mom!" Emily cried, hurrying towards the cell.

Mrs. Sinclair stood against the wall, her expression a mix of relief and concern as she took in the sight of her children.

June, her gaze sharp and accusatory, narrowed her eyes at Emily. "What is this?" She demanded. "Why are you here alone?"

A perplexed look crossed Emily's features. "Alone?" She echoed, gesturing towards Aidan, who stood at her side. "I'm here with Aidan. He came with me."
