Sun and Moon Steps!

Once Qin Mei had chosen the cultivation techniques she desired, she quickly returned to her humble courtyard.

She felt eager to start practing the cultivation techniques she had chosen.

First however, she had to actually study them.

As she stood in the center of the courtyard, she took out three cultivation manuals.

Qin Mei had chosen a sword technique, and a movement technique from the scripture pavilion.

Why these three?

This was actually after careful consideration on her part. 

Sword techniques was a must, since sword cultivators had many attacking methods, and movement techniques would help her in battles

As for the third one technique, she had thought about it.

Qin Mei didn't feel it would be good if people continously asked how she reached such a cultivation realm at such a young age

So far, nothing has happened to her yet but,

Perhaps she would even attract a lot of jealousy in the future because of it. It may even get her killed!

Therefore, she had gotten herself a spiritual concealment technique!

It could hide her realm from any prying eyes, and stop people at most one realm higher than her from discerning her cultivation realm

It would certainly help alleviate some of the jealousy she'd feel in the future. 

As a genius, one would defintely encounter the envy and jealousy of others during their cultivation journey, as the human heart was fickle 

One moment you could be friends searching for treasures, and the next moment you'd be ruthlessly stabbed in the back as if the previous friendship was but a lie!

Sigh, the life of a genius such as hers was truly too dificult!

Putting the other manuals aside, Qin Mei took out the movement technique. 

She had originally wanted to begin with the sword technique she had picked out, but, she realized she didn't have a single sword

The immortal slaying sword was there, but, pulling it out within the rising sun sect would be courting death!

It wasn't like she could casually get a tree branch and use it to cultivate the technique. She really wasn't of that level yet.

Reading the basic introductory of the manual, Qin Mei nearly jumped in shock!

It's said that it uses the light from the sun and stars in the sky as the source, enabling one to teleport to anywhere light hits!

Even though she had never studied the various techniques and levels in the world, just from this description Qin Mei assumed it to be very strong

Even in the night without the presence of the sun, the light from the stars still shined onto the world.

Therefore, she wasn't only able to use it in the day.

There were four realms to the technique, Beginner, Small mastery, Intermediate mastery, Greater mastery, and Perfection!

The range of the technique increased as one's attainment and comphrehension rose.

Unfortunately, it required a lot of spiritual qi to use.

After Qin Mei understood the potential of the technique, and how much it could raise her battle strength, she wasted no time and immersed herself within it!

She could imagine how useful it'd be in a battle against an opponent !

Nearly an hour later, Qin Mei rose up from the ground. 

She was about to attempt the movement technique.

Looking up at the sky, the sun was still up, making her next steps easier

Closing her eyes, Qin Mei sensed the light qi in the air, made easy due to the sun. 

One could absorb it during the night, though the quantity of the light qi would pale in comparison to daytime.

There were many different attributes of spiritual qi in the world, Light, Thunder, Dark, Fire

The Sun and Moon steps required the use of light Qi.

Qin Mei used the technique after a few moments of preparation, however she remained in the same spot.

"..." 

Qin Mei felt this was ridiculous. She had clearly used the technique in accordance to the instructions, yet nothing had happened.

"Is this technique a lie?", once she had this thought, Qin Mei immediately brushed it aside.

No way, how could that be?

This was from the rising sun sects scripture pavillion, it was impossible for it to be fake.

The sect just wouldn't leave a faulty technique in its scripture pavilion, right?

This would be very detrimental to its reputation

Using the light qi, Qin Mei decided to try the movement technique again, focusing on a spot a few feet away on her right

This time, Qin Mei successfully dissapeared before appearing a few feet away. However, it wasn't at her intended spot

Indeed, it wasn't that the cultivation manual was faulty, it was just that she couldn't accurately move to her desired spot.

She practiced a few more times, mastering the basics of the technique. Small Mastery was probably not too far away!

Qin Mei felt the need to test the current range in which she could teleport to, and so she immediately put it into motion.

1 meter!

2 meters!

3 meters!

At this point, she reached her limit. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't teleport past 3 meters. 

Qin Mei's spiritual reserves had also been nearly depleted after so much use, though, she still felt extrememy satisfied.

"3 meters? Though it's short, it's still pretty useful!", Qin Mei came to the conclusion that, with her current amount of spiritual qi, she could use it no more than 11 times.

11 times was pretty dissapointing. This diminished her hopes of using it as a long distance traveling technique.

She wondered what realm she'd have to be in order to be able to use the Sun and Moon steps wantonly without the concern of spiritual qi.

Perhaps one day, she'd be able to travel the entire world in only a few steps.

It was time to cultivate the other cultivation techniques she had chosen!

After experiencing the strength of the Sun and Moon steps, Qin Mei wondered what the limit of the Spiritual Concealment technique she had chosen was.
