In A Corner- Threats

I gaped at the man in front of me, my heart pounding in my chest. It was like I was looking at a completely different person- a stranger wearing Noah's face

"You haven't called the detective, and you aren't going to call him or anyone else to report me. In fact, you'll keep this a secret for me, and I'll be allowed to roam around freely." He stood up from his seat and started pacing the room like he owned it, his eyes never leaving mine.

I fought to keep my expression steady, but he was right about one thing—I hadn't called anyone yet. I wanted to see him squirm first to make sure he knew that I wasn't done with him. But he wasn't cowering; he was baiting me, enjoying the back-and-forth like it was some kind of game.
