Chapter 4

Avana POV

"Why are you still here?" Alpha Nicholas asked after what seems like a battle to his tongue, his eyes bluntly devoid of any emotions. I hesitantly moved forward and looked away like a little fool.

"You never asked me to leave, sir," I stated, instantly regretting my utterance. Maybe it's high time I left my past behind me for real and live in my present. I have never been given a chance from my previous world, but this is a new world and different people.I always just stay to receive orders, and here, maybe I need to get used to being treated better.

I saw how frustrated the Alpha was, deeply focused on the gadget on his hand, it did something for me. I wanted to reach out to him, to pet him, and maybe give him a tight hug. I shook my head, bringing myself back. The Alpha could never look at a lowly girl like me; he was simply off-limits. Maybe I had better urge my heart to stop beating in his presence.

"Lock the door on your way out," he said, heading to the corridor in his room. I nodded and stared at his perfect jaw, reveling in how lucky I was to see him every day. Most girls would do anything to be able to see the Alpha for just once, but here I am listening to his deep, solemn voice.

"Still here?" He asked, jolting me out of my imagination. "I am leaving now, Alpha," I said, bowed slightly, and walked out, making sure I stole one last glance before I finally shut the door.

"Hey, new girl," I looked back at an older lady who called me. Her look was cold but rather appealing. It doesn't want to make me run, and neither draw me in.

"The Luna wants to see you," she said and left instantly, not even looking back to see me move. I slowly walked into Luna's house, making sure the shimmering lights didn't blind me before I finally reached her.

"I am here, Luna," I said. I looked troubled and shaking, but a smile on Luna's face kept me still.

I stared dreamily at the dresses hanging on the mannequin. I felt Luna's hand on me." Avana" she called me, and I looked up at her exquisite gaze, and shyly looked away.

"You can start wearing these dresses; you can start living the life you want," Luna said. I was so dumbfounded that I couldn't talk. I simply stare with a widened eyes.

Luna's smile widened at my reaction. She sat in her seat and stared intensely at me.

"I want you to be Nicholas's Luna," she said, and I bet I must've passed out because I didn't seem to hear the rest of what she was saying,or maybe she just stopped talking,I watched her walk up to me and patted my back. Her actions confused me and sent me on edge.I wasn't convinced it was pure love, but maybe my wishes were coming true, and this really is a new beginning where all my dreams shall come true.

"Come on in," I heard the Luna summoned some people in, and still in my shocked state, I only watched as two women walked up to me and gently took me to the Luna's bathroom. I almost lost it as I fought for words, but nothing came out.

I have no idea what time it was. I waited patiently in Luna's room. For the first time in my life I was pleased and satisfied with my appearance. I walked around and flipped my dress, imitating the ladies of the higher class.

I rushed back to my seat when I heard footsteps approaching. I waited anxiously for a minute until finally the door came ajar and the handsome face of the Alpha locked with mine.

He stared intensely at me, his composure slipped, and he was fully aware. He walked towards me and only stopped an inch from me. I breathed in his scent, knowing I was helpless the very day I heard of him and being with him was a dream come true.

" My mate" he muttered and walked up to me, he pushed my hair to the side and rubbed softly on an unseen mark on my neck,I felt his breathe lingered on my neck and I helplessly shivered.

"What is your name, my mate"? He asked, his gaze never left mine.

"Avana" I forced my name out, I wasn't angry he forgot my name ,I was dealing with my heart pounding and threatening to explode in my tight chest.

" I Nicholas, choose Avana as my mate" he shouted across the room, and the grunt and growls of audience full the mansion, the door was wide open. Luna came walking towards me with a lightend fire, her eyes beaming and promising support. Although I haven't known the family for long, I was convinced they were different.

"The mating ritual will start, now our people are waiting", The Luna said and returned outside drooping the fire, which signified a witness to our vow.

I watched the Luna lock the door. It was more for me. It meant I was the mate of the great Alpha Nicholas. How could this ever have happened? I questioned myself. I looked nervous under the Alpha's fixed gaze. I looked away and took my seat back, waiting for whatever was next to happen, but the Alpha never budged.

After what seemed like forever, I opened my eyes slowly. My eyes felt heavy and nobody else seems to be in the room with me. I stood up and slowly began to walk to the door, my long dress swept firmly on the floor and I slowly paved into the Alpha's room.

I was so shocked to believe any of the things that happened were for real. I slowly pressed the door handle, hoping to look to see if Alpha Nicholas was sleeping. The door opened slowly and the Alpha came into view. But he wasn't alone. My eyes turned red at once, how stupid to fall in love so fast like this and crying over a man I had just vowed to mate.

"This is to,I am sorry" the alpha said as he worked himself inside the unknown, the lady's muffled sounds filled the room. I should be ashamed of myself watching them, but I couldn't bring myself to look away. Growing up as a young girl, I never had the expense of keeping a male friend, nobody even talked to me,more of becoming close with me,and seeing the Alpha and the unknown lady make love, it strangely woke the hunger in my flesh.

" I will be here all night" I heard the lady shamelessly say as the alpha walked into the bathroom. Her eyes moved around lazily and finally settled on me. I hurriedly left the door opened and ran off, wishing I had somewhere to really call my own, somewhere to really run to, and be accepted with open hands.
