I'm Blessed!

Lim's stroll down memory lane was abruptly interrupted by the sound of Miya's shrill voice coming from the CCTV apps on his mobile phone. He checked the screen, afraid that something happened to her. But nothing could be seen through all CCTVs in that room.

"Seems like she is still soaking on the bathtub."

But then, as he saw the digital watch on his cell phone, he was shocked, "She's dipping in hot water for almost an hour? Is she a water bear or something? Whatever."

Lim locked his cell phone and put it on the end table beside his bed. He tried to sleep.

At that moment, Miya stifled her scream when she saw the magic hour outside. The sun rose from the total darkness, giving an orange tinge into the dark sky. Creating the gradation of white, orange, pink, and dark blue on it.

The solar lamps outside were automatically turning off, triggered by a little light from the morning sun.

Miya couldn't even stop herself from kept exclaiming, "WOAH! WOW! WHAT! OH…MY!"

She was so excited seeing how the morning sunlight slowly stealing space to be obviously seen between the trees.

After the beautiful magic hour show was over, Miya got out of the bathtub and wrapped her body with a white towel.

But how freaked out she was when seeing her fingers and toes.

"Oh no! How long did I soak in the bathtub? Oh my— Oh my! Look at my fingers and toes! They all wrinkled! I think they have absorbed too much water. Yaaah... In this stage, I think I can easily walk on the wall without slipping over." She rubbed her feet on the floor, checking out the common claim that the wrinkled hand could actually help your fingers and toes to grip the wet surface better.

"My adaptation ability is just som—HATCHII!—thing— Grrr…"

Miya's imagination of her evolving into a lizard distracted by several goosebumps she got.

Her body was shaking hard, "Oh…I'm dead! It's cold!"

She rushed to put Lim's clothes on her. An oversize white V-neck T-shirt that turned into a mini dress on her, and also, a large pair of pants that kept coming down on her.

"HISH! What is the size of his clothes?"

She turned on the hairdryer.

Set the temperature from cold to hot.

She used the hairdryer not only to dry her long hair. But also, to warm her body from head to toes once in a while. Then she stood in front of a standing mirror while brushing her dark brown long wavy hair. She let her hair loose. It looked very thick.

Her left hand was busy pulling up the pants every time it came down. "What a trouble!"

Being impatient, she put off her pants, "Whatever! There's no one in here, after all."

Miya was running to her new bed like a little girl run to her dad. She climbed into that fluffy bed, "What a comfort! For sure, the price tag will never lie."

She was blinking several times when staring at the morning sky through the glass roof above her. She couldn't find her drowsiness. It likely went away together with the moon which was conquered by the bright of the sunlight.

She slipped her hand under the pillow. As if this position could make her sleep faster.

In the other bedroom, Lim also got a similar problem. He couldn't sleep.

While Miya was thinking about how her new job could potentially bring financial freedom to her future, in contrast, Lim was thinking about how his new worker could potentially destroy his freedom in doing his things instead. Especially, when it came to keeping the secret about his magical drawing tablet from her.

Lim got an idea!

He took out some papers from the end table's drawer beside his bed. "I have to write down all the details on the agreement!" He wrote patiently, ensuring that he didn't forget any details.

In Miya's bedroom, she tried all means to get to sleep. She self-patting her own head while

closing her eyes and mumbling, "shhhhh… Shhhh… Shhhh… Shhhhh…. Shhhhh…"

Of course, it won't work!

She gave up!

Then she decided to make a cup of morning coffee in her kitchen.

"Besides, I think it will be better to have no sleep at all, rather than being late on my first day working. If I can't feel sleepy, then I have to be a wide awake." She tried to make her eyes as round as possible. They got even more rounded when she couldn't find any kettle or pan.

There was no water dispenser as well. Only a sophisticated coffee machine which she didn't have any idea about how to use it.

Miya tried to find the tutorial of making a cup of coffee with that type of machine on YouTube.

It works!

Miya was doing happy dancing as if she was a swan princess. In fact, her movement was far from a minimum standard of a ballerina in a trial class. Her arms were too stiff, they couldn't even form a beautiful C curve.

Her arms' joints seemed to only work at a 90-degree angle sharp.

At that time, from the comfort of his bed, Lim just opened his cell phone's CCTV monitor.

He laughed when he saw how Miya was dancing. But then, as Miya raised her hands and made little jumps, Lim unintentionally saw that her clothes, which had only covered half of her thighs, started climbing higher and higher.

DEG!

Lim's face was turning pink.

"No! What am I think of?"

As the unexpected thought came to him, he was startled.

He threw away his cell phone to the bed.

"No! Why she is so—"

Lim's heart was in a battle with his pride to decide whether or not he acknowledged his vision about how beautiful she was. Lim was staring at his abandoned cell phone as it is contained a creepy content on it. He considered his thought about Miya as a horror fantasy.

But then, he heard Miya's voice from the CCTV's apps on his phone, "He said that I just have to press the green button if I need privacy. What is this about?"

Lim took back his cell phone. His gut said that interesting moment was just to be happened. He zoomed in on the screen several times quickly to see Miya's face closer. But accidentally, his thumb and forefinger on the screen was filled with the close up images of Miya's thighs. He lowered his eyes to hide his nervousness. He scrolled the screen until he found Miya's face.

In her room, Miya pushed a green button of the remote on his hand, as Lim told her.

The glass panels on her surrounding turned opaque.

Miya panicked!

"I'm dead! It's broken! Oh my! Oh My!"

In panicked, Miya pushed the green button several times, wishing this could overcome the situation.

She almost cried, "What should I do? He might cancel his decision to give me the initial salary if I keep breaking things like this, even worst, he probably—"

From his room, Lim was laughing when he saw Miya.

"Hahahaha… She's so funny! How could she keep crying afraid about losing money every time she broke something?"

Lim was so excited to see Miya's further expression, he did a countdown, "Seven, six, five, four, three, two…"

In her room, Miya was dumbfounded. The entire glass turned crystal clear as it was supposed to be.

Miya was so happy.

She was yelling and dancing as if she just made a great achievement.

But accidentally, she touched the green button again!

The glass turned opaque once more.

Giving a hint to her that this was not a real error. Becoming more expert on this situation, she pushed the green button once more and waiting for what would happen next.

As the glass returned crystal clear again, she hysterically screamed, "WHAT! IS THAT A SYSTEM? Oh my… Oh my! This is awesome!"

Miya was so happy!

Lim didn't realize that every time Miya was laughing, dancing, and being so happy, she was radiating the magical warmth into his heart. Warm enough to make the iceberg that had become his cocoon for the past eighteen years melted layer by layer when Miya was around.

***

Miya was sitting face by face with Lim in Lim's living room. She was so excited about getting her first salary from Lim.

Of course, it wasn't her very first salary. She once got $1 per hour to dig gold or any precious things she found with a metal detector when she worked with a stingy collector.

She used to be paid with free meals and a free occupant slot for her grandma at the nursing home when she was working there as a caregiver. She went through a lot of training during that time.

She also took a remote freelance working as a proofreader on a small literary agent on the town for $500 per month.

She opened an online store to be a reseller of various products, like skincare, whitening cream, slimming pills, breast enhancement cream, hair growth oil, hair removal cream, eyelash serum, and many more.

For the rest of her life, she had to collect penny by penny.

But now, things were totally different.

She thought, "Finally, heaven gave its eyes on me! I'm so blessed to get a job that no one else want at first. But actually, it isn't that bad. I just need to be more and more patient, just like a monk. Yes! I have to think positively about whatsoever thing it is. Even if it is a negative (-) thing, I need to find any light from up above (!) to make it positive (+). I sure am! I can do this!"

Unfortunately, Miya's smile had to be curled up like a touch-me-not leaves after it was being touched when Lim put a thick brown envelope in front of her.

"What is that?!" she exclaimed.
