Treating Her As a Scapegoat

Cynthia walked to a quiet corner and just answered the phone when Old Mr. Louise's voice came through. "Cynthia, it's me."

"Do you have something?" Cynthia's cold and calm voice lacked any warmth, treating him as if he were a stranger.

Old Mr. Louise had anticipated her attitude, but when faced with it, he couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. It seemed Cynthia could truly be so heartless, completely forgetting the relationship built over the past three years with the Louise family.

Old Mr. Louise took a deep breath. "Cynthia, what happened this time was Yvonne's fault. On her behalf, I apologize to you, and I hope you can forgive her."

"It's just a matter of winning or losing." Cynthia replied. Although Yvonne and Naomi didn't fulfill the promise of a striptease, Cynthia had suffered no losses in this bet. There was nothing to forgive or not forgive.

Knowing the Louise family as she did, Yvonne probably hated her as much as Mrs. Louise did!
