"Fine, I'll leave!" Lorraine took a deep breath, trying to suppress the sting in her eyes. "I used to think you didn't care about me. Now I see you truly don't."
With that, she turned and walked away without looking back.
Watching her leave, the pain in Madam Ford's chest grew more intense. She furrowed her brows, clutching her chest with her right hand.
Pepper, noticing the anomaly, quickly took out a bottle of heart medication from her pocket. She helped Madam Ford sit down and fed her the medicine. Gently patting Madam Ford's back, she comforted her, "The eldest miss has always had this temper and speaks without thinking. Why get upset with her? If you fall ill from anger, the young master will be worried."
Madam Ford didn't speak. She slowly closed her eyes, trying to calm herself.
After a long silence, she finally spoke in a hoarse voice, "I thought she would understand everything I did for her..."
"I'm sure one day she will," Pepper said.
