A Strong Sense of Belonging

The family banquet organized by Old Mr. Ford was an event of extraordinary significance, more elaborate than a typical dinner. When Cynthia and Tristan arrived, the butler greeted them and led them into the reception room.

"Young Master, Miss Shannon, please wait here for a moment," the butler said.

Tristan nodded at the butler and, after he left, pushed a cup of tea towards Cynthia. "Try this and see if you like it."

Cynthia was momentarily taken aback. It seemed Tristan was concerned that someone might tamper with her tea and had given her his own to ensure her safety. She took a sip of the tea, appreciating the gesture. "Will the collateral branches be here tonight?"

"They will," Tristan said. "According to Ford family rules, they are never allowed near the main family or enter the old residence without direct orders from the main family."

This rule elevated the status of the main family by creating a clear separation.
