Ren attempted to push himself up from the chair, only for his legs to betray him.
He stumbled back. His fingers gripped the armrests tightly as his body refused to cooperate. A sharp creak echoed in the room, making Fu Xian immediately spring into action.
"What happened?" The little beast asked in a frenzy, already preparing to scan Ren for any abnormalities.
But before Fu Xian could activate its diagnostic systems, Ren raised a hand, halting him.
"I'm fine," he said, though the shakiness in his voice betrayed his words. "Just... too anxious."
He inhaled deeply, willing himself to calm down. He had let his emotions take over, and now his worry had rendered him unstable. Even his legs were refusing to hold him up.
That was unacceptable.
Seeing this, Fu Xian didn't argue further. Instead, he used his arm to support Ren'. "Let's go home first."
