The Peculiar Competition

Yuwen Che led Yan Shu and Xiao Jihan to the Ziyun Hall where he resided.

The Ziyun Hall was quite large, second only to the main hall. Outside was a plaza paved with white marble, followed by a dozen or so steps leading up to the main hall.

Many disciples were practicing their swordsmanship on the plaza. Upon seeing them, they stopped and saluted.

Yuwen Che nodded in acknowledgment and led Yan Shu and Xiao Jihan straight into the main hall, then closed the doors to the inner chamber.

Behind the second door of the Ziyun Hall was a smaller courtyard with flourishing flowers. In the center stood a silver apricot tree with lush leaves. Behind the courtyard were rows of houses with glazed roof tiles, giving a sense of grandeur. Although they were just ordinary houses, the materials and style were no less impressive than the main hall of her Wushang Peak.

Once again, Yan Shu felt the disparity between wealth and poverty.
