It was clear that the people behind the door were hesitating. Undeterred, Xie Wan pulled out all the stops.

Not long after her words fell, the door to Ciyun Temple opened. The two Daoist nuns who opened the door exchanged knowing glances with Xie Wan. She gave them a look in return and then hurried toward the solemn-looking Ling Su standing not far away.

She hugged Ling Su and said, "Master."

Ling Su looked down at her and let out a soft hum. "That's enough. I don't need you to tell me about your temper. With your vengeful nature, even if you suffer, how far can you really endure? Can you endure as much suffering as the Sanqing Dao Ancestor whose fingers you burned in the temple?"
