A Grand Wager

Why is it a seventy-thirty contribution split, but a sixty-forty profit split? Lady Chu understood this point quite well.

To an outsider, this proposal seemed incredibly generous, yet it didn't align with her true objectives. For her purposes, this proposal was insufficient.

In harsh terms, under this proposal, regardless of how Furong Pavilion fared, Xie Wan would owe Lady Chu nothing. In fact, she would benefit from the deal. If, in the future, Xie Wan decided to sever ties with the Chu family, she wouldn't owe them anything, whether monetarily or morally.

Lady Chu asked, "What's the second proposal?"

Xie Wan looked at her and replied, "Regarding profits, you and I would share sixty-forty. The initial investment would also be divided on the same basis. We would co-manage the restaurant, sharing successes and setbacks equally. If I invest in other ventures in the future, you will be entitled to a share."
