Shen Pan held Zhou Mo, resting her head on her lap, softly sobbing.
Zhou Mo gently caressed her back, offering a silent comfort.
"What did Lu Zhishu do to upset you again? It can't be just because he's away on a business trip and not by your side, right?" Zhou Mo didn't believe Shen Pan was the type to cause unnecessary trouble. Her willingness to live in such a remote place showed she had mentally prepared herself for something.
Shen Pan replied, "I'm just so tired."
Zhou Mo asked, "Tired in what way?"
"Emotionally exhausted," Shen Pan said.
"Because of Lu Zhishu?"
"Not entirely, it's life, emotions, work... so many things," Shen Pan explained.
Zhou Mo sighed, "I can relate to that feeling."
Life seemed to devour them. Although they faced each day with full vigor, upon reflection, they wondered why life held so many disappointments and unfulfilled desires.
Hope was elusive in their lives.
Their loved ones were nowhere to be seen.
