The two arrived at the riverbank, where most of the ice had melted, leaving only thin sheets of floating ice drifting on the water's surface.
Jiang Yexun found a spot farther from the riverbank and gently set his little wife down in his arms.
"You stay here and wait for me. I'll sprinkle some bait, and I'll catch some fish soon," he coaxed with a gentle tone.
But just as he turned around, his hand was firmly grabbed.
"Did you forget something?" Su Xiaoxiao tilted her head playfully and winked at him.
"What?" Jiang Yexun was momentarily caught off guard.
Su Xiaoxiao didn't say much more. She pulled him closer to the riverbank and then turned, throwing her arms around him.
Jiang Yexun froze for a moment, then his eyes lit up as though he had remembered something.
