A Narrow Escape from the Accident

The mint green sports car, as it was about to turn towards the downtown after leaving the Huo Corporation's underground parking lot, suddenly encountered a large truck speeding towards it from the opposite direction. Moreover, the road they were on happened to be a one-way street.

Huo Qing'ang slammed on the brake, but at this crucial moment, it didn’t work no matter how hard he stepped on it. With both cars on the brink of collision, the oncoming large truck not only didn't slow down but accelerated as if it had gone mad, heading straight for them.

With impending disaster, Gu Pianpian, seated in the passenger seat, leaped towards Huo Qing'ang and reached out to turn the steering wheel, making the front half of the car narrowly avoid the large truck's front wheel. The rear of the car, however, collided with the front of the truck, producing a deafening "bang."

Gu Pianpian's body was propelled by the powerful impact, her head slamming into the windshield. Warm blood flowed freely down her cheeks.

What she didn't anticipate was that after the large truck restarted, it didn't immediately reverse away from the sports car but continued to press forward. It was clearly intended to crush them to death.

Immediately after, there was another "bang." It was the car of Huo Qing'ang's bodyguards, which had been following closely behind, forcibly colliding with the large truck and pushing their car out of the crushing range.

During the successive rolls of the car, Gu Pianpian gradually lost consciousness.

Huo Qing'ang was pulled out of the car by his subordinates. His body was covered in blood, his legs numb, and he felt nothing.

If not for Gu Pianpian's quick thinking and her positioning herself in front of him, reducing the impact, he might not have survived this moment.

This car that had met with the accident was a wedding gift personally driven back by Huo Qing’ang’s grandfather, Huo Zhenyun, for Gu Pianpian. Therefore, he was 200% sure that there were no safety issues with the car.

But now, only half a day had passed, and the brake had failed. How could such a coincidence occur?

"Immediately seal off the scene. No one is to leave before Qingyi's people arrive," Huo Qing'ang's deep and commanding voice resonated after he finished speaking. However, he was overpowered by the pain in his body and soon lost consciousness.

Qingyi was a mysterious organization affiliated with the Huo Corporation and a lifelong partner of international law enforcement agencies. To this day, no one knew who their leader was, and it was rumored that there was nothing they couldn't handle.

As for why Huo Qing'ang was able to enlist Qingyi's assistance, no one knew that either.

When Gu Pianpian opened her eyes, the sky was veiled in shades of orange and golden light, bathed in a radiant dawn.

"Madam, are you awake?" a stranger's voice, gentle and soothing, reached her ears.

Gu Pianpian raised her head, her smoke-gray willow eyebrows slightly furrowed. "Who are you?"

An unfamiliar room, an unfamiliar man, and a throbbing headache.

"I'm Mr. Huo's friend and also your attending physician." Jiang Xun raised his hand to indicate his ID badge and smiled gently. "Take this pill with water, and your headache will be relieved."

Gu Pianpian took the water and the pill but didn't swallow it immediately. She paused and asked, "Huo Qing'ang... is he okay?"

During the car's rollovers, Huo Qing'ang had kept her head protected against his chest. That was her last memory of the accident.

"Mr. Huo is not in good condition. He just underwent surgery and hasn't woken up yet," Jiang Xun replied after a moment of hesitation.

"Surgery? What surgery?" Gu Pianpian inquired.

"Mr. Huo's legs were trapped by heavy objects during the accident, which caused a prolonged interruption of blood flow. He won't be able to stand for the time being," Jiang Xun sighed softly. "In the future, he'll have to use a wheelchair."

Huo Qing'ang was disabled?

Heavy objects?

Wasn't she the heavy object...?

In an instant, Gu Pianpian's body seemed to freeze. The bone-chilling coldness infiltrated every pore of her body...
