The King of Diligence

In the quiet hospital room deep into the night, even the slightest movement, like the twist of Gu Pianpian's neck, seemed incredibly loud. Moonlight poured onto the floor, casting a white veil over the room. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves outside, creating dancing shadows, giving it an ethereal and dreamlike beauty.

Gu Pianpian leaned against the bedside and gazed at Huo Qing'ang. She raised an eyebrow and said, "Mr. Huo, don't you think the moonlight tonight is beautiful? It's perfect for..."

"It is indeed beautiful, perfect for working," Huo Qing'ang interrupted her and glanced out of the window. "Call Zhou Yan and have him bring my laptop to my ward."

Gu Pianpian stood up, walked over to Huo Qing'ang, and slowly removed her outer garment, revealing a black silk camisole against her fair and delicate skin. She said, "Isn't it better for Mr. Huo to work on me? Why you want to work your projects?"

Huo Qing'ang, however, put his hand over hers and stopped her from continuing to undress herself. He said in a stern tone, "Either lie down or get out."

"Such a perfect opportunity, Mr. Huo, and you have no romantic inclinations," Gu Pianpian sighed in disappointment, then retrieved her fully charged phone from Huo Qing'ang's bedside and lay back down.

Ten minutes later, Gu Pianpian, in a half-awake and half-dreamy state, was startled by the sudden knock on the door. She wondered if it was a ghost at this time of night.

The next moment, Zhou Yan's voice sounded. "Mr. Huo, here's the computer you requested."

Edison once said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." Clearly, Huo Qing'ang possessed the former and was diligent in the latter.

However, being diligent wasn't enough. What was truly terrifying was someone who was not only more talented than you but also worked harder.

Gu Pianpian sighed softly before drifting off to sleep.

...

At eight o'clock in the morning, Dr. Jiang opened the door to enter the ward and handed a list to Gu Pianpian. "Mrs. Huo, here's the list of Mr. Huo's rehabilitation exercises for today."

It was a full page of exercises, lasting three hours.

Huo Qing'ang, who had been fully engrossed in his laptop, immediately noticed a change in expression when he saw the content on the list. He frowned and asked, "Dr. Jiang, are you settling a personal vendetta with me?"

"Am I that kind of person?" Jiang Xun shook his head and said seriously, "We need to make the show real. Otherwise, what will those watchdogs in the hospital report when they go back?"

"Thank you, Dr. Jiang. I'll ensure he follows the rehabilitation routine," Huo Qing'ang attempted to say something but was preempted by Gu Pianpian.

Jiang Xun immediately displayed a relieved expression, "Mrs. Huo is indeed reasonable. I'll take my leave. Contact me if you need anything."

"Sure, Dr. Jiang," Gu Pianpian nodded, showing great respect.

Engaging in rehabilitation training is an exceedingly draining and demanding task, not an easy feat.

Gu Pianpian was, of course, reasonable. After all, she wasn't the one suffering. The thought of Huo Qing'ang, struggling and panting from the exertion, even gave her a sense of gloating satisfaction.

Huo Qing'ang closed his laptop, casting a derisive glance at her, "Whatever the doctor says goes, your moral compass seems quite straight."

"Do you know, Mr. Huo, what's straighter than my moral compass? It's my expertise in bed," Gu Pianpian wheeled the chair to the window, helping Huo Qing'ang into it. Then she leaned in close, whispering by his ear, "Care to try?"

Their breaths mingled, and Huo Qing'ang's face turned pale. He spoke in a voice as cold as an abyss, "Get lost."

"Alright!" Gu Pianpian grinned.

She followed the wheelchair, pushing it toward the door.

...

The rehabilitation training area, usually bustling with people, was even more crowded than usual today.

Huo Qing'ang looked around at the extra people who had suddenly appeared and couldn't help but sneer.

Gu Pianpian also noticed the unusual crowd and squatted down beside the wheelchair. She started tidying his clothes and said, "It seems that everyone is very concerned about whether Mr. Huo is really disabled."

"Okay, I'll wait for you at the stairwell. Be careful in the restroom," Huo Qing'ang said, lowering his head to tuck a few strands of hair that Gu Pianpian had scattered behind her ears.

He deliberately let her leave the scene to create an opportunity for those who were trying to test him.

After a brief hesitation, Gu Pianpian got up and left.
