Little Diviner Wanwan

Xue Yang held the peach wood plaque, carefully examining it, and indeed found a small crack in the center of the wooden piece.

She lightly traced her fingertip along the pattern, murmuring, “This peach talisman was obtained by my grandmother during her retreat at the Taoist temple. My mother always reminded me to wear it at all times.”

Recalling the scene when her car was rear-ended today, Xue Yang couldn’t help but shudder.

“I used to think this talisman was somewhat ugly and was reluctant to wear it when I was young. It wasn’t until after my grandmother passed away that I started wearing it…”

Wanwan, in a childish voice, said, “The carving on the talisman depicts Yu Lei and Shen Tu, ancient underworld gods. They were the great generals under the Northern Yin Emperor, often serving as door gods. However, as new door gods gradually replaced them in the mortal realm, they were laid off.”

“But Yu Lei and Shen Tu became the Eastern Ghost Emperors and currently oversee the Taozhi Mountain and the Ghost Gate.”

Pointing at the plaque, Wanwan confidently stated, “In fact, the appearances of Yu Lei and Shen Tu, the two emperors, are not ugly. My master once said that their appearances were deliberately carved as fierce and ugly in the mortal realm, mainly to appear more majestic and make demons and evil spirits fear them.”

Scratching the back of her head, Wanwan turned to look at the bewildered Xia Zhihuai and asked in confusion, “Brother, why does someone a bit ugly make him appear more majestic?”

Xia Zhihuai shrugged, “Who knows?”

He had no idea what Shen Tu and Yu Lei actually looked like.

“All right, brother is just a bit slow, can’t rely on him.” Wanwan sighed, lowering her head.

Xia Zhihuai ground his teeth and placed his large hand on her small head.

“Tao Wanwan, don’t challenge my authority anytime and anywhere, or I might just send you to kindergarten tomorrow.”

Wanwan looked at Xia Zhihuai in confusion, “…” So there are kindergartens in the mortal realm too?

She thought she finally didn’t have to go to school anymore.

“I won’t go!”

Wanwan stared with her clear black and white eyes, her small eyebrows furrowing, appearing both innocent and fierce.

Zhong Jia'nian’s heavy mood suddenly lightened as he watched the two siblings glaring at each other. The previous gloom and worry vanished into thin air.

“Wanwan, there’s something I want to ask you,” Zhong Jia'nian said.

Wanwan immediately turned her head and put on a sweet smile, “Brother Jia'nian, go ahead, Wanwan will do her best to help you.”

Xia Zhihuai seemed to have guessed something and hesitated to speak, but he managed to hold back.

Wanwan was different from other children her age; she was much smarter. Although she was young, she had a lot of ideas in her mind.

Zhong Jia'nian earnestly asked, “I want to know how to break free from the calamity that hangs over me.”

Wanwan blinked her eyes, hesitated for a moment, and then said, “Brother Jia'nian, can you show Wanwan your Ba-Zi?”

“Ba-Zi? Is it the date and place of birth?” Wanwan nodded seriously, “It would be best if you could provide the exact time as well.”

Xia Zhihuai twisted Wanwan’s arm and whispered, “Can you really do that? You’re only three and a half years old. Has your master already taught you such profound things?”

Wanwan suddenly turned her head and stared at Xia Zhihuai, giggling, “I can, it’s very simple!”

“When I was in school, the teacher explained it once, and I remembered it firmly!”

“Brother, don’t tell me you can’t do it?”

Wanwan asked in a low voice, her eyes gleaming with the words “I’m superior!”

Xia Zhihuai snorted, “Be careful not to be exposed as a braggart later, it’ll be embarrassing for you.”

“No way.” Wanwan crossed her arms in front of her chest, raised her head high, and turned away.

Brother always wants to belittle her, even though he’s the idiot.

Hmph.

Zhong Jia'nian wrote down his date and place of birth on a piece of paper and pushed it in front of Wanwan.

Seeing Wanwan’s round eyes, he suddenly remembered that she was only three and a half years old and probably couldn’t read yet.

“Sorry, I forgot you’re still young. Let me just tell you…”

While he was speaking, Wanwan had already picked up a sticky note and looked up, saying, “Brother Jia'nian, I can read.”

Although the characters were missing strokes and limbs, she could recognize most of them.

“Based on your Ba-Zi, Brother Jia'nian, your life expectancy is seventy-eight, and at the age of twenty-three, you will face a life-or-death crisis.”

Zhong Jia'nian nodded, “Indeed, I’m twenty-three this year.”

“Brother Jia'nian has a malevolent star in his fate palace, with dark clouds overhead. It seems that he has recently encountered something ominous.”

“You should carefully think if you’ve received any old items lately. It’s not good to have objects that have been around for a long time, especially those brought from graves.”

Wanwan handed the note back to Zhong Jia'nian and leaned against Xia Zhihuai’s arm, staring straight at Zhong Jia'nian.

“Well…” Zhong Jia'nian furrowed his brows and pondered for a moment, without any clue. “I do have quite a few old items at home. I attended an auction in Europe recently and bought a lot of things.”

“Wanwan, how about you come to my house and take a look?” Zhong Jia'nian nervously looked at Wanwan.

Wanwan immediately jumped off the sofa and patted her chest, saying, “Leave it to me, Brother Jia'nian. I will definitely find it for you.”

Xia Zhihuai grabbed her dinosaur tail speechlessly, “You can go, but are you sure you can guarantee your safety?”

“I can.” Wanwan looked up and confidently replied.

Xia Zhihuai stared at her for a few seconds, “I’ll go with you.” “Yeah, Brother should be able to find it too.” Wanwan pointed to her right eyelid and smiled, “Brother now has the Clairvoyance too.”

Xia Zhihuai almost cracked a smile at her words. Damn it!

Forgot about this.

Zhong Jia'nian and Xue Yang looked at Xia Zhihuai curiously, “Have you also studied these things?”

“I haven’t.” Xia Zhihuai shrugged nonchalantly, jokingly saying, “I accidentally opened the Clairvoyance and can’t close it anymore.”

Zhong Jia'nian stared at him for three seconds and sympathetically said, “Don’t walk alone at night in the future.”

Walking on dark paths too often can easily lead to encountering ghosts.

It seemed being the family member of a fortune teller was not easy either.

Wanwan didn’t understand why Xia Zhihuai lied, as it was clearly her who helped open the Clairvoyance.

But she didn’t expose him on the spot.

Her brother was a person who cared about his reputation, so it was better not to expose his poor excuses in front of others.

Xia Zhihuai took Wanwan to Zhong Jia'nian’s house. As soon as they opened the door, Xia Zhihuai instinctively took a step back, still holding Wanwan in his arms.

Zhong Jia'nian and Xue Yang glanced at each other, puzzled, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

Xia Zhihuai lowered his head and glanced at Wanwan, discreetly swallowing his saliva. He actually didn’t want to go in; the house didn’t feel right to him.

Wanwan patted Xia Zhihuai’s back and comforted him in a soft voice, “Brother, don’t be afraid. Just hold onto Wanwan tightly.”

“With me here, no bad guys will dare to bully you.”

Xia Zhihuai took a deep breath, smiled, and ruffled her messy hair, “If we encounter danger and you can’t handle it, we’ll retreat. We agreed on that beforehand.”

“OK!” Wanwan raised her little finger and nodded with a crescent-shaped smile.

Xia Zhihuai composed himself and followed Xue Yang into the house.

A gust of cold wind blew towards them, chilling and eerie.

Xue Yang also felt the coldness in the house and wondered, “Jia'nian, did you forget to turn off the air conditioner when you left?”

Zhong Jia'nian shook his head, “I turned off the air conditioner when I left.”

After turning on the lights, Zhong Jia'nian looked at the running air conditioner and scratched his head, “I remember I didn’t turn it on when I left.”

And in this season, he wouldn’t have set the air conditioner to eighteen degrees.

After turning off the air conditioner, Zhong Jia'nian led Xia Zhihuai and Wanwan to the music room.

“The things that were sent back last time are still here, not yet organized.”

As he said that, with a click, the doorknob turned.
